Curious about prices...
« on: January 28, 2013, 06:24:47 PM »
I found a guy on ebay who had almost the entire set for sale... Minus a couple of the big ticket ones like Gil, Holt, and DotD Deuce and such. Here is the list of ones he says he has MIB (he said he has picked up more and so I asked him for an updated list as his auction was over almost 3 months ago)

Wave 1: Clawdeen, Draculaura, Frankie, Lagoona and Deuce/Cleo
Wave 2: Abbey, Clawdeen, Cleo, Frankie,Ghoulia, Lagoona, Spectra and Clawd/Draculaura
Wave 3: Nefera, Operetta, Toralei, Purrsephone/Meowlody and Calwdeen/Howleen
Wave 4: Jackson, Robecca, Venus and Rochelle
Classroom Collection: Lagoona, Ghoulia, Frankie
DotD: Cleo
Dead Tired Wave 1: Cleo, Draculaura, Ghoulia, Frankie
Dead Tired Wave 2: Abbey, Clawdeen, Draculaura
DDG: Spectra, Operetta, Lagoona and the 3 pack (Abbey, Draculaura and Ghoulia)
Ghoul's Rule: Draculaura, Clawdeen, Cleo, Abbey
Fearleading: Cleo, Draculaura, Ghoulia
Gloom Beach: Clawdeen, Cleo, Draculaura, Ghoulia, Frankie, Jackson (I can only assume the girls are from the 5 pack)
Killer Style: Clawdeen and Operetta
Scary Tales (Scarily Ever After): Clawdeen, Draculaura, Frankie
Skull Shores: Abbey, Draculaura, Frankie, Ghoulia, Lagoona, Cleo, Clawdeen
SKRM: Frankie, Lagoona, Ghoulia, Operetta
Sweet 1600: Cupid, Clawd, Draculaura, Frankie
Scaris: Jinafire, Skelita, Rochelle

Fashion packs: Draculaura, Clawdeen, Frankie, Deuce, Cleo, Lagoona, Abbey, Toralei, Ghoulia, Spectra (Cleo and Ghoulia have only had 1 fashion pack release... so I know which ones those are, the others I do not...)

**He says he has a classroom Draculaura, but I didnt think they were released.... So I am not quite sure which one he is talking about... )

He pm'd me and told me that he would accept any reasonable offer... So my question to you all is... What is this collection worth... He had it listed for $1800 and it didnt sell... So what should I offer if I was to purchase it... Any ideas?? Thanks guys!! Sorry this is such a lengthy post... but an response whether it be a PM or on here is greatly appreciated...

Amazon, for whatever reason, refers to this doll:

http://www.amazon.com/Monster-High-Classrooms-Draculaura-Doll/dp/B004XPIQIQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1359428073&sr=8-5&keywords=draculaura

as "Classroom Draculaura", when in fact she's Killer Style/Day at the Maul Draculaura.

As to the price of the whole lot, just using original retail prices, it's almost $1400 worth of dolls and fashion packs. A lot of the dolls he has listed are either still available for retail or were recently, so I wouldn't want to pay much more than retail for them, but a few are worth more, mostly the Wave 1's and the boys.

More valuable dolls include:
Signatures: Clawdeen, Lagoona, Frankie, Deuce, Ghoulia, Cleo, Toralei, Clawd, Howleen, and Jackson.
Others: 2.0 Cleo, DotD Cleo, GB Jackson, and 1600 Clawd.

I didn't do too much price research, but I deemed the above dolls more "rare/valuable" than others mainly because of how long they've been off shelves, with a dash of how available they were originally and how much collectors seem to like them. Dolls that might drop off the list include Clawdeen and Frankie if their European re-release gets to the states, and Toralei because she's found in the new Fearleading pack.

Were I the seller, I would not want to take less than $1400, because it's not like complete MH dolls sell for below retail secondhand, in most cases.  Just doubling the original retail price of only the dolls on my rare list above makes the price about $1660. As a buyer, I certainly wouldn't offer him more than the $1800, considering it didn't sell the first time.

Other considerations include stuff like how much (almost certainly more) they could get if they sold the dolls individually, versus how convenient it would be for them to sell them all at once, and how hard it would be to find a buyer with that kind of money and willing to spend it all at once on Monster High dolls.

These are all just my (perhaps unfounded) opinions, but I hope they were helpful! ^^;

Yeah i agree it comes out to around 1400 retail... maybe offer 1650, 100 less then what you were thinking and maybe he will meet you in the middle with 1700-1725 and you will save a bit.
