Pokemon help
« on: January 17, 2013, 02:23:08 PM »
i just entered the new pokemon tournament for the end of this month.
entered the last one (first time) and i won a total of 2 battles
I need help forming a better team.
i have a complete pokedex. so i can breed and train any pokemon you recommend in time for the tournament.
I've never used the same two pokemon (aside from lillipup) in game play. plus i make the game more challenging by not evolving my pokemon... not ideal for tournaments.
so im really open to suggestion. have to follow the rules so no legendaries etc. and no doubles.
please help!
thanks.j

hehehe :D my fiancee signed up for that one too :) he asked if I wanted to do it, but I don't play pokemon on a competitive level...
I'll ask him about some tips to give you when he gets home.

Oh my gosh, training a competitive Pokémon battle team involves EV training, and special selection of moves, and all kinds of things that suck all the fun out of the game...I could never do it, myself.
Here's a guide from Smogon.com, it's a very good pokemon fan site: http://www.smogon.com/dp/articles/intro_comp_pokemon

I'll put something here some time

thanks!
yeah i'm mostly competing so i can get the special edition pokemon and items they sometimes have, but you have to rank high enough in order to get to the next level. so i'm competing in everything they do. just in case.

Nugget Bridge is also a great resource, they're a doubles-oriented fansite that love competitive play.  Some useful articles here: http://nuggetbridge.com/articles/

Ive never concidered actually going to tournaments..though it sounds both nerve wracking and fun xD

I wouldnt be of much help to you, though I would probably suggest trying to breed for specific moves and to have a balanced party :)

I don't know what rules there are in the tournaments, but I could tell you how to make a nigh-invincible team with a lot of annoying moves that will make you win, but tick everyone off.

I guess it would depend on what type of tactics and move set you prefer to battle with as to which are the best pokemon for your team.

is it true that if you breed and raise the pokemon your self they are actually stronger than if caught in the wild????? if so could make sense to raise two, then breed them to get a male and female then breed again to get the best growth stats. i think it is a bit Greek to me.

I have only really played in game with my teams never actually taken part in a real tournament before. (not sure how to)
