You can either go country by country or pick your faves from each country or just scan sales threads and eBay for any Nirvanas and buy till your wallet explodes hahaha
Right now I'm tying to focus mainly on Brazilians but I do have favorites from other countries that I keep my eye out for like Mexi Baby Moondancer I'm passively looking for now.

Have a look through the gallery and make yourself a wish list and start looking :-). I started buying whatever caught my eye then after awhile realised I adored Italians and now I collect by country.  I only have a handful of other Nirvanas I've  kept who I just couldn't part with.

Do whatever works for you and have fun!

I've found sticking with some sort of theme helps you not spend near as much money, I personally have a goal to have all orange nirvanas (since that color is my life blood lol) but then I make a few exceptions for certain nirvana's, like my brazil wind whistler I <3 her.... or if I can ever get my hands on a spanish sweet tooth.... But it helps that my list isn't very big to begin with, it just sucks that I am in a lull right now and haven't seen any orange nirvana's I don't have up for sale... I particularly love the greeks and argies... But I don't think there is a best way, just your own preference.

what the others have said...also
if you're wanting to ease into it, something like Italians is good because they're not as expensive (for the most part - Italy does have some pricey ponies as well)

I search ebay for argentina or whatever country I am looking for to see what's there - and how much. Every now and then you can score something for cheap if you don't mind poor shape ponies  ^.^ I'm mainly into argentina ponies for nirvanas but will also look for Italy, brazil and peru.

Italy is probably going to be the cheapest but I have also gotten the more common Brazil ponies like minty, bluebell, ect for about $20. Sometimes people sell them on here for less then you will find on ebay too. However they also have ones like bowtie that can cost several hundred dollars.

When you have your want list... be sure to save up early, so when a pony on your want list comes up-- and it's rare-- you can shell out the cash. If not, then you'll be trying to scramble for money, or worse, not be able to compete for it.

concerning me at the beginning I just wanted to find again my childhood pony (Tickle) and then I discover all the rainbows and the others so I bought every pony I met. After that I realized I was found of some variants like the French ones, the Agies etc.. So now my collection is only based on Frenchies, Greeks and some Argies  ^.^ ^.^

I have the same problem.  There are so many Nirvanas I admire and would love to have but I have trouble picking certain ones and just going for those.  I even tried country by country but I can't ever commit to spending my money on JUST those and end up buying various ponies, lol.  I personally love the Greeks and Mexicans, and Argies.

Looking through the Nirvana Gallery is an excellent place to start.
Browsing through pictures, well you never know what's going to just jump out at you.  I personally have gone after the Flutterbye Variations and found that to be a very rewarding pony to collect.

Another good place to look before going to ebay to buy is the Classifieds here and also the Nirvana Sales thread...Buying from members offers the comfort of dealing with people from the Community and also their reputation and feedback will stand behind them.

This is a really good point! I'd much prefer to buy straight from an Arena member rather than eBay.

I too brows the Gallery a lot. It's really helpful to compare pics of the same pony from different countries. What I did was go through country by country and make a list of my favorite ponies.

I don't think there is really a 'best' way to collect... everyone is different! Though I would advise against a 'Gotta catch 'em all' approach simply for the sake of your wallet ;) I have a few areas I focus on (plus there are always a few who slip in anyway!), though at the moment I'm not buying too many Nirvanas. The gallery is indeed a great resource for working out what sort of ponies you want to go after :)
