Glue/Reroot/ACK!
« on: January 08, 2013, 05:11:11 AM »
I have a Lala that has severe glue issues. Her hair is hard as a rock. I've cut into a cute bob which I actually like. However, I'm worried about the plastic breaking down or just becoming icky and sticky. If I reroot her and wash her head out super good, will that stop the ick from the glue?

Anything I've read on the issue seems to point to glue placed inside the head to strengthen the rooting, not from the head itself oozing plasticizer. So I think removing and cleaning out the glue should eliminate the problem.

I don't re-root (nor have any of my actual collection had glue issues), so maybe an experienced re-rooter would like to sound in?

Thanks Crimson. She's the only ghoul I've had issues with. All my others are great.

I've never had glue issues *knock on wood*, but my Cupid did have terrible glue inside. I scraped it all out and rerooted her [into Phoebe] and have never had any problems :)

I've rerooted more than a dozen monster high dolls, and I use a sturdy pair of hemostats to pull the glue out. It takes a lot of work sometimes, but once you get all those chunks and stray bits out of there, and clean inside and outside as best as you can, when you reroot you shouldn't have any issues. :D
