84 page coloring book that doesn't reuse vectors!

I've been sitting on this for forever and just remembered it today when I saw another post about a coloring book 
tygerbug on DeviantArt made an 84 page coloring book intended for adults.  I don't know what he means by for adults as I haven't flipped through all the pages.  It's available for free download, so you can print the pages you want or (what I eventually intend on doing) bring in the file on a flash drive to a staples and get it printed and spiral bound.  Just uploaded it and got a price of $12.23 with the binding and clear plastic covers on front and back.  Double sided print and head to toe layout also just to make it easy on you if you want to get one.  I figure you'd pay way more in stores for a coloring book of this length.  I don't think he reuses a lot of vectors either

Oh very cool! Those are great [although the colouring in images of some human characters is a little odd lol!]. Its nice to see images which are not standard vectors.

I'm surprised that Staples would print such a thing, given that MLP is a trademarked and licensed property!

I'm pretty sure they'd be fine with one or two copies, but if you were to print a bunch it would look like you were selling them.  Plus, it's fan drawn/made so its not that different than printing out fan art.  Generally that becomes an issue when the artist gets upset, but he gave permission to get it printed so you should be all clear

But they're not fan art.  The DA page clearly says he traced them from television.  If they were his own design it wouldn't even be an issue. But they're clearly drawn to appear as if they are Lauren Faust's character designs.   

Even more importantly, Benton Publishing Industries holds the licensing rights to the coloring books - this is stepping on toes of a legal property that already exists.

Well boo... I have no idea how I missed that in the reading   I sincerely doubt legal action would be taken for a single copy being printed but I do understand the issues with it all.  People only tend to get sensitive over those things when money is made though :/

I doubt if Benton Publishing cares, as long as the coloring books aren't sold for money. 

Likewise, Hasbro doesn't even bother to go after fakie companies that directly copy the My Little Pony molds (AND the MLP clipart, more often than not), so I think this guy is safe.
