customizing G4 ponies - cutting off horn?
« on: December 22, 2012, 04:09:32 AM »
has anyone cut off the horn of a G4 to have the right color body for the right breed of pony?  (want to turn a uni into a earth)

if I cut off the horn, is it solid inside?  will there be a hole in the forehead, or is it solid enough that I'll be able to shave it down so it's smooth, without having to do a fill in?

it feels solid, but one can never tell, and I don't want to rush ahead and experiment if someone else has any insight on it :)  thanks!

I can't swear to it, but I'm pretty sure that when it's been done before, it leaves a hole.

I'm sure it would leave a hole on the FS size, about the regular brushables? They are so tiny!

It leaves a hole both in regular and FS size.

well, that's poop! I didn't want to have to mess around with filling it in and matching a paint to the natural body color.

thanks!

you can make one big hair plug out of it though.. my friend made this sweet tooth from one of the blue unicorns.. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=470496452979771&set=a.354267021269382.99968.336255739737177&type=3&theater

i think she just added some bangs in front of the bigger plug..

When i cut the horn off a regular sized g4 rarity it didn't leave a hole at all maybe I got lucky with the pony.

I wound up lopping it off, and I managed to save a very thin layer - but I can see where it is thin.  I'll probably re-hair it so it has some bangs that cover the area.  it doesn't look too bad, though!
