Thrift stores

I've seen a lot of people talk about 'thrift stores' on here and I'd like to ask what they are . We don't have them here in the UK

Thrift stores are second-hand shops. Usually they're places where people donate their used/unwanted items and you can buy them for a fraction of the price. My mom calls it "treasure hunting" aka looking through a bunch of junk to find the hidden gems.

OK, I see We only have charity shops over here, but they've become rather expensive lately and they're all tiny!

Wait till it gets warmer, you may beable to find things at boot sales.  Similar but thrift stores are actual second hand stores instead of people trying ot get rid of their own things.

In my eyes 'thrift store' is like charity shops in the UK since they sell donated items - I volunteer at Oxfam and they sell all second hand items

Boot sale = Yard sale/flea market/garage sale

Any other cultural MLP lingo that has anyone wondering?

Thrift stores have become 'boutiques' here in Aus too.

and I envy those UK car boot sales... the ones here are so tiny they fit into a mcDonald's car park.
