Hurricane Sandy and something I bought
« on: December 01, 2012, 10:57:31 PM »
On the day of Hurricane Sandy, I had bought a Comic Con gray pegasus poster, after not seeing it shipped for a little while, it didn't bother me, because the seller is located in NY and I know they were probably having a tough time. A little over two weeks ago, I got a tracking number, but it doesn't even show up as "accepted", and I've messaged the seller asking what's going on but I haven't received a response. What should I do?  I mean, if it's going to take forever, I can get the poster at the same price from somebody else, I don't want to wait forever for it! I mean, I know Sandy affected the seller, but still :(

Hmmm...how odd she sent you a tracking number two weeks ago and it has not yet been shipped.

I would send your seller another message and state that if you do not hear back from her, that you have no other choice but to open a claim to protect yourself.  It can always be closed once your item arrives.  But it may get her to respond to tell you something, anything at this point.

The thing is if that has not yet been shipped with that number, the Post Office will not accept a two week old time stamp at this point.

It's hard to know how the hurricane has affected those in the US. I bought a pony from pikabubba on the 16th October and am still waiting. :( The pony is a set completer and was not cheap. She hasn't replied back when I let her know she wasn't here yet. Unfortunately she is in the centre of the worst hit areas. Does any one have any suggestions? I feel for those affected and feel bad about hassling her as I don't know the sellers situation at the moment. If she lost her house etc then really it's just a pony and It's probably the last thing on her mind right now. I know one person has already left her negative feedback due to no response.

There are some parts of NY that still don't have power..and it's a disaster in some parts still. t could be that she dropped it at the post office after printing a label, and it's taking its sweet time/runs into delays/etc.

The seller actually did manage to get into contact with me and I think the package was already on its way by the time I sent my message, I think it might have actually been something with the mail carrier. However, I was polite as can be since I realize that they're still picking up the pieces and trying to get a package out is probably the least of their worries right now :(

I was in the process of a trade just before Sandy hit (not here, on the TP) but I never did receive anything. I was supposed to be trading my Fluttershy promo card, another foil and a wave 2 blind bag for a :muffin: Pony promo, poster, lanyard and a couple of foils. Since the member was new and had no feedback, I asked them to send first, which they agreed to. When Sandy hit, I was trying to be patient since I didn't want to come across as rude or impatient since they lived in NY. Well, I last heard from them on November 2nd, at which point they said their post office had finally reopened, they had power back and would ship and give me a tracking number. Since it's been so long (they last logged on to the TP on the 19th, but didn't answer any PMs I sent asking about an update) I'm guessing they changed their mind or something, but still I think it's rude to not say anything. I was holding my part of the trade and possibly missing out on selling or trading them to other people in that time, so I just recently removed everything from hold. I'm still glad I decided to not ship until I received their half, though. Otherwise I'd be out of a decent amount of money.
