Rust?
« on: December 01, 2012, 07:56:08 AM »
While prepping a bait, I encountered my first case of rust in a pony.

She's a g3, and the washer for her tail was rusted, just starting to creep up her tail. It looks as though there is a small amount of rust on the plastic inside, where the washer was inside her. I'm thinking some sort of cleaning is in order to make sure my custom doesn't start to rust later.

How should I go about cleaning her out? And anything else you'd recommend would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!  ^.^

If a normal bath with hand soap, dish soap etc. doesn't take care of the rust, you can try something like Oxiclean. Toothpaste is also great for removing rust. Let the pony soak for a while and scrub. There's no need to worry if you can't get all of it off, though. As long as you let the pony dry properly before putting her head back on, she shouldn't develop any rust issues. Besides, if you use something non-metallic to keep her tail in once you rehair her, there isn't really anything that could get rusty.

What Griffin said. A normal good scrub will probably be all you need.

if it's just around the tail hole, I get it off with a bit of acetone on a cotton ball and I use a pliers to get it up there
