How did you do it?

I loved ponies as a child - my older sister and I had a massive collection together (no exaggerating when I say 100's), mostly from what we had amassed from car boot sales; we used to go nearly every weekend with my dad. Then in 1999 we sold them all when we were 'too old' for toys.

I became ill in 2008, and started to buy Sylvanian Families as a hobby during a massively stressful time. I then started to feel really sad and nostalgic about all the toys we used to have, and a couple of years ago I started to re-buy my childhood ponies. Then FiM came out, and it's kept my interest as strong as ever.

So I collect by hunting out ones I remember having as a child, and then my sisters nudge me in the direction of other ponies to add I love that we're such a pony family.

I only really collect G1 and G4, but a few others have crept onto the shelves.

I think the best way to collect is to buy what you enjoy. Whether there is one or two characters, or if you like an entire series. You can make it as niche or as broad as you like, which is one thing I adore about MLP.

I started watching the FiM show, then a local shop started getting the mane 6 singles. I thought, well why not, I will just get the mane 6.  Then there was the CMC's well I had to get them as well, and the rest rapidly followed. Now I have all of the playful ponies.  Then a work colleague turned up with a bag of G3's including a plushie, so now I am collecting those.  There are so many of them, so I will just pick them up as and when I find them.

It was a sudden thing for me. I was at my mothers house one day and whilst looking for a few things I wanted to take home, I found two of my childhood G1s! So I promptly put one of them on eBay and then wished I didn't and started buying more for me. Next thing I knew I found the arena on google and 5 years later still here and still love my ponies as much as I did 30 years ago

I swore I would NEVER collect G3s but I now have a whole shelf of those.....wasn't interested in silly accessories .... lo and behold I now have a WHOLE drawer full

I started collecting when G3s came out - although I was collecting G1s. It was seeing the G3s and suddenly wishing to find by childhood ponies but being unable to track them down that lead me to ebay. I was only going to buy Cotton Candy...but she seemed so lonely when she arrived that clearly she needed thousands of friends lol!

It started with FIM ,watched all the episodes like in a week i think, then found the site of hasbro toys, I found rainbow dash and fluttershy at a discount store and bought them on an impulse really, then I wanted the mane 6, found them on the hasbro site, and to complete the 50 for free shipping  I ended up buying all the other ones they had on  the site  , the next step was the sets , the rc cars followed and to find the first released playsets and ponies I turned to Ebay, then Found the Arena, after completing all the g4's euro releases,I wanted to display the Fashion G4 ponies and I got a Castle from the G3 lines,the CAstle came with some g3 ponies, the only one I knew was pinkie pie and I then turn to getting some g3's of the mane 6,then to complete the core 7 characters ,while completing them I found Star Catcher really nice and I'm now getting more of  her to form an army
