Mohair for MH or ponies!
« on: November 16, 2012, 06:06:04 AM »
Where do you guys buy it? I find the quality differs ALL the time from what it looks like in the picture. They promise silky, smooth stuff but..... What I get sometimes looks like they sheared the wrong end of a badger or an abused cotton ball.

What I'm looking for is quality as well as price. Straight doesn't matter, good stuff (or so i've heard) springs back to waves once you spray it with water.

I think both Dollyhair and Retrodolls sell it.

I found it horrible fuzzy and wouldn't smooth :( The usual people I buy it from told me 'Not shipping to australia anymore, read the listing.' a week or so ago.

http://www.etsy.com/shop/StellasFiberFarm and http://www.etsy.com/shop/mohairhouse are the two I found while looking for mohair to reroot my blythe -  the quality looks really good. I can't report on if it actually is or not though, I'm far too poor to buy mohair right now :P

Retro Dolls US will have some in soon, we haven't sold any as of yet, but as soon as JPP is done dying some, we'll be putting it up for sale- and we do ship internationally :) Our UK site currently sells some mohair as well which is different from what Retro Dolls US will be carrying. :)

how much will it be? And when it is dyed, will the colour be uniform- or will there be variations, like with bits be lighter, darker and inbetween the shade it's dyed. Because I love mohair that has variations like that. I'm currently looking for Bubblegum pink.

We're still in the process of pricing it, but there will be some uniform ones and one with variations- also some with dyed tips, and all different kinds- JoshsPonyPrincess is the one who is dying it for us, so I will be sure to mention bubblegum pink to her :)

I usually source mine from Etsy. There are even people that will custom dye it whatever color you want. I have some from a seller on Ebay called Morezmore. It's very very nice and soft.
Commissions are CLOSEDWaiting list available.

Hello there - the RetroDolls mohair will be dyed solid colors but they do have variations in them - this naturally happens when dying wool. There will also be gradient dyed mohair as well. I will add bubblegum to the list :)
