Should I be irritated about this shipping issue here?
« on: November 24, 2012, 07:31:32 PM »
I posted about this before when I bid on a pony from Mexico back in October. I bid on her then noticed a funky estimated shipping date of somewhere between the end of December and start of January. I have packages come from everywhere, and that seemed like a really long time to me....anyway I sent the seller a pm, and he assured me the dates were messed up. He told me it would arrive sooner than that, and he would ship it out the Friday I bought the item.

Weeks went by and nothing, not a tracking a number or anything. Finally after asking him about it a tracking number showed up on my purchase, but I couldn't track it. I waited a bit longer, but it's getting closer to my 45 days. I messaged him again, and after sending him a message I was finally able to see the package tracking. This is what showed up for me.

This means my pony is still in Mexico? Does this also mean he shipped around the 14th of November?  I messaged the seller my concerns about the ponies delay in shipping, and the tracking not showing up (at the time it didn't show anything. I just saw the update today). His response is "PLEASE HAVE MORE PATIENCE"

What in the world do I even say to that? When the 45 days hit do I file a claim against him? Can I even file one with the package on it's way? It mentioned in the sale the package having a late shipping date, can I file a claim for that if necessary?  I'm a bit taken back by this, and I'm not sure if I should be insulted or not by the sellers lack of concern and sending me capslock messages.

This is all just irritating to me, and bothersome since the seller has items I'm usually interested in. I'm not sure if the seller is a member here, and they have good feedback....so I'm sure the item is on it's way. It's just this lack of actually mailing my package and being a bit snippy when I'm worried about it. :|

Mexican Post is excruciatingly slow. I can usually receive things within one to two weeks anywhere else in the world, but when I ordered something from Mexico it really did take almost the entire PayPal claim window. I would take heart that there at least appears to be something on the tracking information screen, considering it usually takes so long to update.

From my update does it mean that he didn't ship till the 14th? I'm a bit confused about that part since he claims to have shipped on the 26th of October, but I did not have a tracking number till about a week ago or an update I could visually see till the other day. Is it just that slow to actually update in the system or did he kinda wait like three weeks to ship the thing?

Looks like the 14th or the 15th is when it was finished processing through their sorting facility. It could have been held at that location for weeks for any number of reasons: high backlog of outgoing parcels, suspicious contents, or even just poor organization. :T It's a pain, but it's still possible your seller is telling the truth.

I hope everything arrives soon for you!

If the box is still in transit, you can file a claim, but eventually they will decide in favor of the seller. It happened to me with a pony from Peru. It took more than 45 days to arrive, but it made it safely in the end.
I hope yours will arrive safely!

I am going to assume it is stuck in customs at this point.  If it had left Mexico it would say something along the lines of "The item is currently in transit to the destination."

It does not explain why they waited so long to ship but it is indeed at the Processing Facility. I would check the tracking again on Monday and see if there are any updates and then proceed from there.

Honey: I mean I don't want to resort to filing a claim since I'd rather he just keep his money, and I have my pony.

The big concern I had was the tracking only showing up for the item on November 14th when the seller assured me they went out on the 26th (or whichever day was the Saturday of the 22 Oct week). I guess I'll never completely know if he sent them on the correct date and they showed up late or if they were sent on the 14th.

Should I even respond to his weird shouty reply or just ignore him? I'm leaning more towards ignoring him and hoping the box shows up. Oh well.

I have gotten several ponies from Mexico now, all from exin_goblin. They have all taken a while to get here, but they all arrived safe and sound. My most recent purchase was on 10-17 and it arrived 11-10. I would not respond to the shouting reply, lol, it is very possible that the shout is a culture misunderstanding (I hope you know what I'm trying to say lol). ;) Anyway, if it's the same seller that I had, you really have no problems, he's a good seller. Mexican post is veeeeeerrrry slow, but I hope your pony arrives soon!

It's possible that he doesn't know that CAPS is interpreted as shouting & the weirdness of his reply may be due to English not being his first language. I'd say that ignoring the weirdness & crossing your fingers that the package arrives soon might be the best way to go. Hope everything works out for you soon! :)

Please don't be offended by the cap lock post from him, even though that would be my initial reaction as well. I work in an office and we get emails from people all day, and some of them are SO weird. Sometimes people reply in all caps, sometimes they spell so bad I can barely read it, sometimes they put ....... after every sentence! (That one really drives me batty. If I ask someone to do something and they respond "Okay...." how am I supposed to feel about that?)

But yeah, I've come to learn over time that people don't think about how the reader will feel when they read what they just typed on the screen. XD

Sorry I can't help with an opinion on the international shipping thing, since I don't ship internationally very often and never had something like this happen.

I hope your pony arrives soon!

It sounds to me like your pony is still in Mexico. whether he posted late or not its not so easy to tell , since shipping from Mexico has been know to take while.  At least there is tracking so hopefully the pony will show eventually. If it is the seller already mentioned I have bought from him myself without any issues . I dont think that he is deliberately being rude ...
