G3 pink hair...
« on: November 11, 2012, 11:04:28 PM »
is it just me, or is the g3 hot pink hair colour, like on pretty pop, dull? it just doesn't seem to be as shiny as the other colours...

I don't have Pretty Pop but I do have Cute Curtsey and as soon as you described the issue I thought of her. Not sure if they have exactly the same colour hair (the pink part of course) but the one on CC does seem a bit duller and stiffer than usually, it's not shiny and silky like most, so yeah, I guess that colour just came in that texture.

Oh and I just remembered, the hot pink streak on my Pretty Parasol is also pretty stiff and kinda weird...

yeah it is kind of stiff and weird!!! must be that colourway. a shame, cause it would look so good if it was nice and sleek and shiny :)

There have been a couple of topics lately about "rotting" pink hair on G3s.  Basically there's a pink shade that is prone to breakage and disintegration.  I don't remember if it includes the ponies you've mentioned specifically, but I have a feeling that a lackluster appearance might be the beginning signs of a breakdown there.

Yes I remember the topic PhyllieBean, I can only hope that this isn't it.

Mlphammy, it is impossible to capture on the photo because, on my girls at least, it looks perfectly fine! Cute Curtsey's hair is really pretty, even the tinsel is nice, it's just to the touch that you can feel that the pink hair is a bit on the rougher side. With Pretty Parasol I might be able to maybe but basically her pink part has always looked kinda oily - you know when the hair is dirty and the hairs are kinda stuck together, I don't know how else to explain. But it's really only obvious to the touch. I remember washing her hair twice because I thought I maybe left some shampoo in there, but the second time around it was the same.

Oh, and the pony with crumbling hair was Baby Tea Leaf, now, I don't have this girl but looking at the picture, it might be the same kind of pink :S not happy!

Yes I believe this is exactly the case - the "stiffness" is the nylon breaking down so on a pony which doesn't have her pink rotting or breaking down it will be as silky and soft as other colours whereas on ponies which have their hair starting to deteriorate the hair starts to "go off".

Its very very tough to tell from an image but I think I can perhaps see what you mean about the colour appearing to be "less shiny" than the others. And yes it is that hot pink that people seem to be referring to most in any discussion about rotting hair. I would say it looks and sounds like its a breakdown of the surface of the nylon which causes its damage - similar to how we see colour changing hair break down over a quicker period of time.
