Digimon Custom: Kudamon (2006), Version 1.0

Originally a somewhat baity Sno-Glo.  Rehaired with Golden Delicious, Butterfly, and Lemon Drop.  Sculpting done with Sculpey.  Sealed with matte Mod Podge.

Bleh.  I hate this thing.  I'm eventually going to do another version, a 2.0 version, which will have no hair and much more sculpting.

Glad someone likes it.  I'm at a trouble spot now:  what should I do with it?  I can't sell it... but I don't want it.  Maybe I can give it away to a little kid or something?

Also, I need advice.  Eyes are really difficult for me to do; I have shaky hands and I never know if the brush I'm using is good enough...  My sculpting is horrid too.  I want to do a custom that has perfect sculpting before being baked, kind of like it doesn't need sanding or anything.  I know it's possible; I've seen it.  But I have no idea how to make it happen, or what tools to use to add detail.  Help, please?  Anyone?

I think your pony is lovely.  Your painting looks pretty crisp.  For painting, the smaller the brush the better in most cases.  Brushes can get as small as 20/0.  For sculpting, you can smooth it a good bit with water.  I always end up sanding some to be on the safe side.  Water and fingers seem to work the best.

You could sell the pony, it is nicely done, jut a thought. :)  Most things just take practice.

Thank you for the advice.  Any tips on brush care though?  The brush I use for the eyes used to be perfect and now it's got stray bristles that mess up the job sometimes.

I'd suggest starting over with a new, high quality brush from your local craft store, but you can always take some good scissors and trim down those extra bristles to the base of your brush.  As for brush care, I always keep my brushes wet before I add paint to them and I don't "stipple" with them unless the brush is only going to be used for that.  Never let your brush sit in your cup of water with the bristles down, that'll ruin them really quickly.  Quick and thorough cleaning is essential!  As soon as any of your paint dries on your brush, it's damaging it because you can't get dried acrylic off easily.  If the brush isn't a good one though, it can go bad without doing anything wrong.  Just a few things to keep in mind :)
