New York Comic Con? (And anyone need a hotel for Sat.?)
« on: October 03, 2012, 04:58:52 PM »
Is anyone else here going to NYCC? I'll be there Saturday and Sunday with some friends...it's my first time going (although not my first con by a lot!) Any stuff I should know?

And does anyone need a last minute hotel for Saturday night? I've got room and figured it couldn't hurt to offer in case someone was still looking.

I've never been to a Comic Com. :( I'd love to go though. Too bad I'm poor! (I'm only in PA too!)  Have fun though!

I have a 3 day weekend pass, but I'm commuting in and out from NJ every day. Have to drive to one of the train stations closer to NYC, park, then hop a train in and back. Otherwise, I'd be paying $30 a day for a roundtrip ticket in and out from Dover, NJ. I'll take $15 round trip over $30.

What hotel are you planning on staying at? Hopefully not Hotel Pennyslvania. ^^; That place is DISGUSTING.

I'll be the purple and white border collie ( Pixistix! ) with the squeeky monkey toy, bells on the collar, and a GIANT pixystick ( if I can find one ). Been working on my partial fursuit for about 2 weeks now.

I do plan on hitting up the pony meet happening all 3 days, but must must MUST meet Anne Rice ( can't decide which one of her books I want her to sign. I have all of the Vampire Chronicles, all of the Mayfair Witches, most of her not-vamp-or-witch stories... decisions decisions! ), Jason David Frank, and Sean Austin. And attend wand dueling classes. And... dang it, so many things set on my con planner, can't list them all!

Bee-chan, I thought about traveling from NJ too, but at the time (when I was going to go for 3 days), the cost to communite wouldn't have saved me much...now that I'm only going one day, I'm thinking staying in NJ probably would have been a better deal, but oh well, too late now! The hotel I'm staying in is supposed to be good, so I think at least I don't have to worry about the condition it's in.

What's this about a pony meet? I assumed there would be one, but I didn't know.

Hopefully you'll get to do most of what you're aiming for! I'll keep an eye for you to say hi. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be wearing yet...I have a bunch of costumes in my closet that I need to decide on.

Bronies NYC is having a meet all 3 days. Last year, they met by the Hasbro booth, not sure where the meetup location will be yet ( I have to check the meetup page again ).

And it turns out I won't have to drive at all this weekend! A friend of mine and I will be staying at her grandparents pllace close to the city, so we'll just take a quick bus ride into the Port Authority every day. MUCH cheaper and faster!

Oh, lucky you! My grandparents actually live in the city, but unfortunately, staying with them would be too stressful for them.

What's the meetup page? I always feel like there's some...place...on the internet...somewhere...where pony meets are arranged that I never know about XD.

Here ya go! http://www.meetup.com/Bronies-NYC/

I never get to attend the regular monthly meetups, again because of it being a two hour train ride one way for me from Dover, NJ, and a half hour drive from my home in Stanhope to the Dover train station. There's that, and most of the time, the monthly meetups cost $ ( I guess they're like a mini convention, complete w/ artist alley tables ), and they fall of days I'm working.

I've been trying to find a northwest New Jersey pony meetup group, but it doesn't seem to exist, and sadly, I don't have the time to dedicate to making one myself.  ;~;

Thanks for the link!

Unfortunately, Leegeta, I won't be in NY until Saturday, and it's starting to look like that day will be very full for me, so it doesn't sound like that will work out. Unless you meant Bee-chan...

Wouldn't mind it at all!

I don't know what time my friend Jen and I will be arriving. Not sure what the bus schedules are like coming from her grandparents home, where ever that is.
