The ponies loved their new outfits, but they're still growing a longer coat for winter- help them!! This assignment requires you to give the ponies extra hair- your options- flocking, sculpted hair/hooves, rooting hair/fur. Please include a short paragraph telling us what you did and how.

Pink Flare is a very hairy Kirin. I decided to try something Ive not done before, so she is rooted with Suri alpaca fleece. That is tip dyed light pink, and she has sculpted horns and hair! I figured whilst on the subject of trying something new, Id try a pink custom, Im not usually a fan, but I think Pink Flare turned out well, and she is definately very warm with all her hair!

The ultimate in fuzzy ponies! Bashkir curlies are know for their thick, curly winter coats. So I thought it would be perfect for this challenge. Because of my total lack of sculpting skills (plus sculpting the hair textures would have taken me weeks if I used apoxie), I looked around online @ custom Breyer models for inspiration. Textures were made with modeling paste & a toothpic. The stuff is actually really flexible, so I had to take a little extra care when rehairing. I could have made the texture a little more defined, but I think they still looks pretty neat. Painted in acrylics, & rehaired in DollyHair curly nylon Apricot Mousse??? (it was an unlabled bargain bag). All in all pretty happy with the effect. I might have to make some curly Hasbro ponies now.

Silent Majesty soars in the heavens over her beloved  mountains as a silent protector of night. A Tribute to the Great Eagle Owl, majestic and beautiful.
I have had something of this in mind for a while, but finally figured I had the skill to pull it off. My first major attempt at sculpted hair and second on feathered wings.
She started out as glitterglide, on of those annoying turn in the middle light up dancing ponies She had her skates removed and her innards  of wires removed. I reenforced her middle but left her had turn-able still.
 Wings are wire mesh with each feather made out of apoxie sculpt. Her hoofs, horn, and part of her  hair are also sculpted. I was going to airbrush gradients however, my airbrush broke so she was dry brushed with 3 different colors to give the affect of fur instead.  Rehaired with Expresso, gingerbread and tunimsu. She is removable from her base and stands freely with out it. Her base is flocked with white glitter flocking.

let me introduce to Devon a baby griffon, she likes to play with worms and eat fish. Recently she is shedding her baby plush  to become an adult
i give her sculpted hooves, with little paws. then rehaired with mohair and also add some of it around the neck to simulate a mane and in the back of her legs and tail, she hasn´t cold now

I dropped out last round.  If you'd like to see it I did this 'The Lady or the Tiger" custom for this round.  Rehaired with feathers and a rehairing tool.  It was... ridiculous. lol I didn't do a full photo shoot since I'm just playing along at home for fun.

I love her sculpted forelock and the way the wings are positioned, as well as the hair between them. ^^

Ambar_Jul, you're sending that little griffin to me, right? She's awesome, I love the flaming hair tufts, and I'm happy to see a griffin pony with the beak in proportion to her body.

Saja, Pink Flare is beautiful, I love seeing a pink kirin! The sculpting looks great and the alpaca fleece is beautifully dyed.

And last, but not least as this is what I probably would have voted for (I'm actually happy I'm late so I didn't have to make a choice, haha!), Tsukikakushi: What an awesome idea for a custom! I love both the idea and the execution, the texture on the body looks great and the curly mane and tail are lovely. As far as technical skills go, every custom is a winner here, and that's what makes choosing between them so hard. But I think your custom appeals to me the most because she's so ordinary, yet special, compared to those mythological creatures.

Great job, everyone! I'm sad I didn't get to see a mammoth pony, though.
