Would it be possible to know the reasoning behind allowing 5 swaps total, but only 3 of one kind? Wouldn't a person be equally as busy if they did 5 swaps of different kinds, as they would be in doing 5 swaps of the same kind?

Because custom swaps were already limited to 3, so we kept with that. If someone was in 5 pony swaps, that would really add up quickly; or 5 custom swaps would be a huge workload.

Every decision was made after much discussion and thought.

Thank you! It's just nice to know the reasoning behind the numbers. It doesn't make sense at first glance, but now that you point it out, it really does make a lot of sense.

Is there any chance of hosting a swap only counting for one slot if you are not actually making a pony in the swap you are hosting? I know I intended to participate in the swap I am currently hosting, but life made me limit myself to hosting it only. But now that things have cleared up, I have time for more, but I am unable to do more because my hosted swap counts as 2.

This isn't me whining, just trying to more completely understand things My Masquerade swap is about to end for me (im shipping today or tomorrow), so I have a slot opening up anyway. I was just curious.

I understand why you are asking, but no. Hosting (with or without participating) still counts as 2 slots. Hosts have a lot of responsibility, and we want to make sure they have all the availability they need for it. (organizing, dealing with late shippers or flakers, follow up with participants, etc)

So in a co-hosting situation is that two slots for each person for a total of 4 hosting slots for the total swap? Or is it one hosting swap each since the load is shared between two people?

Co-hosting is exactly the same as hosting - 2 slots each.
