resolved thank you.
« on: September 29, 2012, 06:03:08 PM »
Hi guys, I am in need of some suggestions. I sold some ponies on eBay. I sold two to the same buyer, and the buyer has contacted me stating that the items I sold them were not as described. They said a Bunches-O-Fun I sent had a missing ear and the Twinkle hope had scratches all around her eyes and face. One, I try very hard to describe ponies accurately and show pictures of all damage I find. Two I still have the pictures from the listing...

I did list the scuff to Twinkle Hope's eye. The only thing I could think to say to the buyer is to send me pics of the damage and to ask if the parcel was damaged in shipping. I try to be very honest and i do understand that sometimes items get damaged in shipping. I am awaiting the buyer's response.

Any other thoughts on how to deal with this fairly?

Obviously Bunches-O-Fun had both of her ears when you had her. I don't think your liable for damage done by the post office. Do talk to your mailman or someone at the post office about it. If you paid for insurance on it, she could get money for replacement ponies.

There was no insurance as it was shipping overseas and was not super pricey ponies, and buyer did not request it. I am willing to refund shipping if the ponies were damaged in the post...is that going o far friendly?

This is a tough situation. But if you are willing to do that for your seller, I think they would appreciate that. After I did that though, I would block them so they couldn't buy from you again.

  It sounds like maybe the ponies got damaged in the mail - recently a pony arrived with half her ear scarped off due to rough handling by the postie :(  I think the best thing to do is ask the buyer to email you some pics of the damage and see for yourself what they are complaining about, and what best ot do next.  Does your buyer have plenty feedback/a good reputation?  :what:

Yeah they do that is why I am kind of unsure how to proceed with it. I am not saying they are lying, I do not assume that of anyone...but I know they were good when they left. I did ask the buyer for pics, and f there is damage from posting i was planning on refunding the shipping cost, is that fair? Should i do more?

  At least it doesnt sound like they are trying to scam you then, but wait for the pics to make sure.. ;)

I think refunding the shipping is fair enough if the buyer did not pay much for the ponies... once your buyer sends you the pics, ask her what she would prefer to do - you can give her partial refund (eg-the shipping), or she can return them for a full refund (which is what she will have to do if she opens/wins a case against you on ebay). Its great that you are working to resolve this as its a disappointing situation for both you and the buyer, but its still not fair that the PO can get away with damaging items like this *sigh*
