Hum... is this normal for ebay auctions?
« on: September 17, 2012, 04:54:23 PM »
Soooo this is a non-pony issue, but everyone here is so helpful and has so much experience with ebay, I figure you can tell me if this is common or not.

I bid on a 1 cent book auction (shipping $3, no big deal) that still had 5 days to go. This morning I saw the seller sent me a message over ebay that just says THANKS FOR THE ORDER. And my My eBay page is telling me to pay the $3.01. So..... it looks like he closed the auction early and gave me the book without waiting to see if there's any other bids? o.0

I don't have any issue with paying immediately, but is it legal to end your auction early if only one person has bid? Just seems weird to me...

And what's even weirder, he already left me positive feedback! I haven't even paid yet. o.0

But he has a 100% positive rating. I am guessing this is just how he does business on ebay, but it's just weird to me so I was wondering if this is common or not. Never happened to me before, but I don't go on ebay much.
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

Seems odd, but it doesn't look like it's a bad thing for you :)

That sounds really strange   I dont think its normal. Its certainly not normal to leave feedback before the item is even paid for either. Maybe the seller got confused and left feedback for the wrong person? but that still doesnt explain the early auction end though   :what:

Is this a Chinese seller? Or a seller that vehemently claims to be from the USA? Many times, sellers that have auctions that say "USA location!" or they are from an Asian country do a lot of things to get positive feedback. I don't mean this in a negative way but I know that many Chinese sellers have a hard time gaining trust in the beginning so start listing a bunch of penny items.

It's possible he wanted feedback from you very very fast so ended this to get a move on with the feedback. That way, his other items will start selling better. Just a very very random thought and it's the only one I have.

Otherwise, mistake maybe?
