Having trouble quitting MH (ramble/rant, just getting it out)
« on: September 17, 2012, 12:28:35 PM »
I'm getting out of Monster High. I just can't. I can't keep up, I can't afford it, I can't make clothes or take pretty pictures or even play with them. They just stand there. I don't even take a lot of them out of their stock! They just stand there.

I'll be the first to admit I got into nail polish/ponies/MH as a coping mechanism for becoming disabled. In three years I've gone from a really athletic person who could handle anything to someone who has trouble standing up to make breakfast. I can only wash my hair on good days. I'm constantly exhausted and in pain from my joints and muscles.

But I'm getting a little bit better -- I leave the house about once a week now, compared to once a month last year -- and it's time for the dolls to go. It's just a bit harder than I thought...they are SO DAMN CUTE.

I'm at 54 dolls now. I'll be at 41 when I mail out the ones I've already sold.

I just need to get this out, sorry. I know it's the right choice for me, but that doesn't make it any easier!

I took pictures of the ones going away. I hated breaking up my Dead Tired and Ghoulia collections (only missing SDCC) but...I can't keep them forever.

*big hugs*   No need to be sorry about letting it out! Decisions like this are always really hard, I'm sad to hear MH is no longer enjoyable for you but it's good that this feels like the right thing  ^.^ I think taking pictures of the dolls that are leaving is a lovely idea. Perhaps you might think about keeping one or two special dolls as mementos of the good times collecting?   ^.^

I'll probably keep my Mellie (daughter of Maleficant) CAM, and any other customs for a good long while -- in the meantime, I'm trying to get my collection down to a few Dead Tired, a couple of Ghoulias, my CAMs, a couple of the other girls (Spectra, Roller Maze Frankie, I <3 Fashion Abbey). If I can get down to 20 or so I'll feel much better about the whole situation.

BUT NO MORE BUYING. Scooter Ghoulia was the last. I'm out!
