Ebay and response time
« on: September 17, 2012, 11:40:59 AM »
I had a buyer win an auction of mine, and I do not ship to their country (which of course is stated in my auction).  They already requested a total from me immediately after the auction, and I replied saying I don't ship there and will cancel and relist unless they can send me a US address.

How long should I wait for a response? Since they sent me a total request immediately, I would assume they've seen the message, right? I do really need the money , and I'm sort of bummed that I'm not getting the Paypal now.  Give them until tomorrow and relist?

Ebayers these days  :stressed:

I'd say give them until tomorrow, yeah. With time difference and work schedules and the like it could be a while, so I'd say give them 24 hours from your message.

...but srsly... why can't people read? Ugh.

I would wait till they respond to the cancel transaction request before relisting.  I am curious do you have your preferences set to block International bidders?  If not you maybe held liable to go through with the transaction.  Just having it stated in your listing is not enough these days.  I only say this because they can decline the request and still leave you negative feedback.

What country are they in?

I didn't request a cancel transaction- should I do that now?

They're in Canada, and my auction states that I only ship to the US.

I didn't know I could block international bidders- I'll have a look there. Thanks!

Yes, send a cancel transaction request.

And to block International bidders is easy:

1) Go to 'myebay'.

2) On the left-side go down to 'eBay Preferences'.

3) Scroll down and look for "Buyer block preference".

4) Click on 'change' on the right-hand side.

You have 3 options:

Option 1 - Block people who "Are from countries I don't ship". When you list your auctin you select the countries you want to ship to. This allows you to block everyone else.

Option 2 - Block people who "Have a feedback score of" ... "or less. In the '...' section you can enter "-1", "-2", "-3".

Option 3 - Block people who "Have received Unpaid Item Strike from more than 1 seller in the last 30 days
