Greek Lemondrop variant found???
« on: September 05, 2012, 10:07:56 AM »
Hi ponypeeps!
I was scrolling on ebay looking for any lemondrops for my army when I came across a greek lemondrop (which I already have). But while I was looking at the picture I noticed something... The color of her drops... They are different. No they are not green or blue they are still purple but another tone. More lilac than purple.
The greek lemondrop I already had had the same color of drops as the normal hong kong lemondrop. Light purple. Here is a picture of her (sorry for the poor quality):

And this is the girl which arrived today at my home. She has more lilac drops instead of purple:

The colors difference is more drastic in person but it is difficult to capture it on camera.
I am about 99% sure the lighter one isn't faded. The second one really looks like the color used on the mail order lemondrop.
Ieh so excited!!!
I have seen faded symbols on lemondrop, but this looks different I really think it is a variant.

What do you guys think and is it normal for greek ponies to have variants???

moving to Nirvana for you :) OL1

EDIT:

I put pictures next to eachother:

the greek symbols are very fickle! they almost always have some sort of bleeding, especially if they have pink or red in them.

my greek lemondrop has quite dark purple drops similar to your lemondrop :)

But does this mean there are 2 different greeks LD's.
The colors are so different from eachother the don't even look a like evn if the brighter one would fade it wouldn't even come close to the other one. The darker one looks more lilac in person ^.^

We also have to remember that there will be batch differences as well, so shades may vary at times. The Greek ones are also known for 'bleeding' even without fading so it's often hard to see exactly how the colour would have looked originally.
