Tutorial - How to Make a Basic Collage in Picasa
« on: August 25, 2012, 05:22:41 AM »
Picasa is rather limited when it comes to making collages, but it does have some some basic options that are fairly user friendly once you manage to find them!

Simply highlight which photos you'd like to use in your collage and press the 'Create a Collage' button (that's right above Rhonda's head, to the right of the green arrow):

You have several different collage options, including the way your photos appear (mosaic, grid, picture pile, etc) as well background options, grid spacing, etc.

Typically Picasa centers the photo, so you may need to crop your photos in order to get them to fit properly. I would suggest making copies of your original photos. Also, you do not need to leave the collage window, crop, and then start over with the collage. You can go back, crop, and your changes will automatically show up in the collage, even before you save.

Picture Pile is fun...you can enlarge/shrink photos, change the angle, set one as a background, etc.

When you're done, simply press 'Create Collage'. You can go back and edit at any time as well.

Just remember to leave some space/room to add your 'A Tribute to..." text!

You're welcome. I hope it's helpful enough! I created the tutorial hastily this morning, was hurrying to get ready for a memorial.

After making a collage can you tell me how you resize it to make it useable on the arena for a signature?? I figured out how to make collages but can't get them resized without ruining the appearance of the images.

What I personally do is create the collage to the standard siggie dimensions (so 2X5/4x10, etc). Then I upload to photobucket and resize it to 200x500 to match the siggie requirements.
