Which ponies did not get much credit in first gen show
« on: August 25, 2012, 09:16:08 PM »
Random opinion question again, was there a type of pony who did not get enough show time or credit in general

For me flutter and sea ponies I think would be my choice, I mean they were around but not consistant...

Was Minty in any of them?

As much as I love Gusty and the other regular characters, it would have been nice to have seen other characters. One of my favourite episodes is Firefly's Adventure as it is the only one with Applejack that I remember and some others such as Twilight (I also prefer the style of drawing too).

There was the very Minty Christmas DVD.

As for G1 I would have liked to see more of the original 6.

Peachy had her cat stolen by Random Rainbow Pony in Rescue at Midnight Castle.  That's gotta sting!

I'd say Masquerade, too.  She showed up a couple times, but the only time I remember her actually being part of the action was in the Flories episode.

Oh yes Butterscotch and Snuzzle and Peachy - as "originals" I would have liked them to feature. In the grander scheme of how many ponies were released very few characters actually got tv time.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

Locket, SS Twilight, and Mimic! And all the ponies from Midnight Castle and Katrina. Also, did anyone notice that adult Sea Ponies only appear in those two episodes? All the other episodes that have sea ponies in it are babies. Where did the adults go? I want more Whitecap :P

I agree about Masquerade! When I was younger, I LOVED her in the show. Along with Paradise, Ribbon and Mimic.

LM what VHS cover? I'd love to see it!

The first collector's pose ponies, I believe. The only time I remember seeing them was in the "Rescue at Midnight Castle", and still it was only like a few of them, and they only had a few seconds of screen time.

Overall I think that, if we were to go further, at least 80% of the first gen ponies got neglected by the show's creators. They've been given a treatment worse than the first gen Transformers - at least in that show they gave a chance to present nearly each and every Autobot and Decepticon until the show ended its run.

Though I guess it's understandable, since, from what I can recall, there were a lot more ponies than Transformers, and the production staff was hard-pressed into releasing new episodes as frequently as possinle, so I guess they just found it to be way more difficult to have all those ponies in the show... :P

Adult seaponies.  As a kid I had one right when they came out.  I remember loving the shell.  Then they disappeared never to be seen again.  Baby sea ponies are nice too, but it is not the same and they didn't have that display shell I loved so much!

Cupcake wasn't featured a whole lot on the show.

There were a LOT...LOT...LOT of ponies who never even made it onto the TV program. Majesty is the queen of ponyland and as far as I know she was never on the cartoon.

I think in the 80's it was more about the actual toy than the TV program. There were a lot of ponies that were never represented in the show. MLP were introduced in 1982, it wasn't till 1984 that a cartoon about them was released.

I started off with Moondancer and Firefly, which were released in 1983.

never saw the cartoon on television when it first aired in 84. You gotta remember that back in the day we didn't have 5 zillion TV channels to choose from. And some people were lucky if you could pick up the 3 networks (NBC, CBS, ABC) if you didn't live in a big city or near one.

Flutter ponies and Sea ponies actually got to be on the show but if we're talking individual ponies or groups of ponies the screen time was kind of limited to a handful of ponies in each episode.

It was a while before I even had access to the programs so my love of ponies was from the actual toy not what I saw on TV. IN a way I like it better this way because I was able to form my own ideas about ponyland and never really went by the TV show even after I was finally able to see it.

Probably doesn't own a stolen piece of the Taj Mahal.
