root canals ?....

i have a root canal booked for thursday but im craping myself  what was your experience !xaflame

I was freaking out before my root canal back in november, buuuut it turned out to be alright! it all depends on your dentist though, i think. I asked for a LOT of sedatives and ended up not being able to feel half my face. but, it worked, as I felt no pain or discomfort at all and the procedure was quick and easy.

each case is different, but I actually made a "I'm freaking out" post here at the arena back when I had my root canal, and each case is different... though I think most people feel no pain or discomfort if properly sedated.

I know exactly how you feel though... :'( I'll keep you in my thoughts! you'll be alright, I'm sure! just bring an mp3 player with you so you can listen to music while the dentist does his/her thing. it really helps.

Ugh! How ironic! I also have to have a root canal done *next* Thursday. I really like my dentist and I have confidence in him, but I am kinda freaking out too!

Please, please, please! Let me know how it goes! I'll be hiding under my bed in the meantime!

Oh they're nothing! I've had three done with two different dentists - one who gave me a TON of novacaine and one who gave me a little and both were fine. One the tooth was just cracked in too. I always suggest if your dentist lets you to put some earphones in while the work is being done and just listen to music. It so helps. You'll be numb and just feel some tugging and pulling. Nothing to worry about.

It's just an RCT.  The only thing I'd really be worried about is the price of the root canal and the crown that usually follows.  Talk about a punch to the wallet.

Yup, it hurts the wallet FAR more than it hurts you.

 It wasn't any worse than a regular filling for me. Just takes a little longer and gets sort of boring!
