Twinkle Eye Help
« on: August 07, 2012, 07:30:26 PM »
I'm working on a custom with a super gnarly Fizzy as the base.  Her eyes are already the color that I need, but they're scuffed up a bit and the protective coating is gone.  Is there a way to make the eyes pretty again without having to totally replace them?  It's my first TE customs and I'd really like to keep the eyes original if possible.  :)

What color are Fizzy's eyes, pink? I'd carefully remove the rest of the pearl finish and then try painting them with a transparent coat of pink pearl paint.
I've tried the pearl additive that you can buy to add to your paint but the additive alone comes out streaky and inconsistent. I think using an actual perl paint will look better.
Good luck. :)

Yeah, her eyes are pink.  The pink pearl paint could work, is there a brand you'd recommend?  I am totally out of my comfort zone on this poor girl.  The bait was painted totally black and the paint had gotten on her eyes, so the finish came off when I removed the black.  I just don't want to paint her head and then find out that I can't fix the eyes.

Createx airbrush pearls are very pretty and translucent to a point.

Are those eyes coated in paint or is it the actual color of the gems? I was thinking, couldn't you just polish it if it's the actual color of the gem? Otherwise, I'd suggest trying to find a donor eye if you're having a hard time finding a way to repair it. :P

Her eyes are actually pink, but they should have had a shiny layer over them and these don't because they were covered in black paint.  I'm headed out today to get some shiny pink to see if that will work, otherwise I guess I'll just replace them with swarovski crystals or something.

Can you use airbrush paints without an airbrush?

Yes, :)  I use then all the time!  I really like using the black and white for the eyes.

There is iridescent paint that has that lovely sheen to it. That could work too.

There are some small scratches, can those be carefully buffed out?
