Hairstyle help!
« on: August 10, 2012, 03:45:44 PM »
So, I have a specific hairstyle I need to do, but I'm not sure how to go about this. It's a bump style with no bangs, kinda like this:
[img2]http://cdn.blogs.sheknows.com/celebsalon.sheknows.com//2009/11/ashley-greene-side-view-half-up-half-down-hairstyle-oct-09-587x1024.jpg[/img2]

The bump would be a little further back from the hairline though.

I can't post the photo of the real style I'm aiming for, but this is rather close. Does anyone have any photos or instructions on how to go about a style like this?

Maybe change the plug hole configuration into a heavy bang type layout.  This would require adding several plug holes in a rounded hairline pattern.  Then rehair leaving the hair long and pull it back into a clip or tie.  You could achieve an even sturdier bump by adding a little piece of hardened sculpt material or foam under the hair (kind of like a "bump-it").  Good luck! :)

ETA:  I'm pretty sure that simply_steffie and Pop have both done a style similar to this.  Maybe they can be of more help.

Not much clue beyond tucking something into the hair to add poof.

Extra plugs like how they used to do the bangs for the earlier G4s, and then a little something to poof up the bump and pull it back. :D

very simple trick- I used to do this to my barbie's hair when I was growing up and the style was popular- first add extra hair plugs around  in like a circle like this:

then you pull the top half into a ponytail, and wrap a clear elastic band around the ponytail. Next you push the rubber band forward- that will kind of make the hair "poof"- tease this a LITTLE bit with a fine tooth comb- that will keep it "poofed", spritz with some hairspray to hold.

Now if you're wanting to do a bun in the back with little ringlets- just take the ponytail and wrap it into a bun- hold in place with pins, and the rest of the hair that you left loose curl and cut to length- like I did with my Goth Belle here-

All the above advice sounds great to me, with the exception of hairspray. I wouldn't use hair products for styling on my customs. They get sticky, icky, and what if there is a chemical reaction with the pony?

You can get the style you want easily enough by doing an alternate hairline line enchantress' first pony. Maybe just add an extra row of plugs to the new hairline and don't pull it back so tight.

http://custompony.tumblr.com/HairTemplates  Alternate hairline templates there.. Always taking submissions for more of those if anyone wants to contribute. This is exactly the situation they are perfect for :)

sorry, should have specified, the kind of spray I use is an organic type that doesn't get sticky or greasy :)
