Trouble removing mane from a core G3
« on: September 07, 2012, 10:33:01 PM »
I'm trying to prep a bait, one of the core G3, and I cannot remove the remaining hair from the inside of the head. I have tried boiling the pony's head, didn't work, the glue is so strong, it's lie the last 10 plugs are totally one with the head.
Any advice what else I can try?
I got blisters now on my right hand from holding the pliers.

when I have difficult plugs, I'll grab the plug with my pliers and twist the pliers, a lot of times that will wrench them free

If you're not trying to keep eyes/symbols on it, maybe try soaking it in acetone? I have no idea what kind of glue they use for these, but hey if it'll work on super glue, then maybe it's worth a shot. Good luck! :)

Clean the bottom of your shoe, boil the pony's head, and then while it's still pliable put it on the floor and step on it.

Set it aside and come back to it later with fresh hands. If you can get the glue to crack from stepping on it, and your hands are fresh, then you can get it out.

I bet it's right between the ears huh? I hate that. I ruined a pair of hemostats on gettin that out before.

One thing I do is place the pony's head against a table corner and try to cave it in till the glue cracks. Sometimes I can manage to keep it like that in my hand while I wrangle the glue out.
