Modeling Tips for Entries!
« on: June 11, 2012, 04:09:49 PM »
So here we are ladies for another round of America's Next Top Monster!
This round the contestants will be their own special blend, and therefore way need a little help! (If not that is okay too!)

First off let's bring to light the most important tips when doing a photoshoot!

Angles:

Remember to always have each body part in mind when you are posing, do not let anything look too tense (even with strong angles) or awkward.

Main key point: Try to have your joints in strong angles. Makes you look more in control and creates a high fashion look.  (Reference Photos 1 (bad example), 2 & 3 (good examples)

Position:

It is always a good thing to remember to try to maintain a 10 o'clock/2 o'clock position for the feet, unless you are going for more intense look.
Hands should always be visible or it will look like they may have been cut off... NOOooooo!!!! <3

Main key point: Do not cover your eyes!!! (Ref. 4 (Bad example) & Ref. 5 (Good example)

Clothing:

Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!!!! Please do not forget Jewelry and accessories to your outfit! Really completes the look!
Make sure that your clothing is NOT bunched, pay attention to straps, seams and anything else that make look out of place.

Main key point: Try to color coordinate your accessories with your outfit, it works really well with creating an visually appealing look.

Hair:

Pay attention to the details on where your hair is going and what look you are wanting.

Main key point: Keep a little bit of water handy to make sure that there are no loose hairs that could cover your eyes in the shots

Thank you for the tips!

I'm confused a little about the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock for feet, could you explain that to me a little?

Oh an analog clock where the hands are pointing. You want your feet to be positioned at that kind of angle for a good high fashion runway look! <3 (that is the angles they sometimes use for the end of the run way and whatnot)

That's where I got confused, I figured it meant location on a clock, but 10 and 2 point upwards, and I'm having a hard time translating that to how your feet are supposed to look lol.  I'm sure it's really, REALLY obvious, and I'll probably have a 'duh' moment once I get it, but it still doesn't make sense to me XD

I think it refers to the angle of the legs, so the feet would be at 4 and 8?

In Modeling school they teach you to have sharp angles on things. Your feet do not have to completely align with the 10o'clock and 2o'clock mark, but they should be pointed in the same general direction. Doesn't have to be exact.
It just creates a nice stance and looks very high fashion. <3

The legs could also be pointed in that direction, with the feet following closely (again it doesn't have to be exact)
