Possible Sweetie Pup fakie? Pic Heavy

So I was running some errands in town (actually pony hunting) and stopped by BigLots to see if there was anything there... Go figure they are in the middle of their reset I guess... So anyway after misses at places today (Goodwill didn't have any ponies out, but I did snag a fisherprice horse that makes sounds and still works, Wal-mart didn't have anything new either). So anyway, I was about to leave BL empty handed but I made another round of the toy area and on the end cap towards the back wall... was a few barbie items and.. something that looked like fakies to Sweetie Pups. Well at $5 per pack I said 'What the heck' and grabbed all 3 color variations. Took them home and showed my online friends... One called them mutant tribbles and the other just said they were ugly But I thought they were kind of cute... So here is the pics

Pulled the chocolate one out of it's pack, the hair is surprisingly not that bad.. not like a normal fakie's hair, to me at least..

The only thing that really bugs me is that the fur on the chest/neck area doesn't go up closer to the turnable line... there is a line below that.. which makes me think the hair is supposed to go higher up.. What do you guys think?

Well they aren't quite like Sweetie Pups but they were the closest reference I could make to these dogs

I can say one thing though, these are not poor quality in my opinion as far as the hair (not sure about the plastic yet)

Wow I need to see if I can pick these up! I love sweetie pups, and for some bizarre reason I've always wanted to rehair one. Now I can get my chance!!

Lol well like some have said, they don't think these are fakies to Sweetie Pups but I would guess some of the rehairing would be similar. I opened up this one to see how the hair was done. The rows of hair is lock and loop with loops sticking out of the rows. No glue but the hair still held up to a comb though through it. And I'm going to try to save the hair on mine when I rehair, because it really feels like it's good quality nylon to me.

So glad I found this. I was just about to start a thread on them myself!

Without even thinking Sweetie Pups, I immediately grabbed one since it looked very "retro" in terms of design- especially the eyes. I almost kept it in the packaging, but it was just to cute so I ripped it open.

So looking it over, I noticed a stamp on its belly which made me double take- "1988 Cititoy." I guess that these are very old fakies that for some reason they just decided to bring back. Not that I'm complaining. I love these little guys! I might have to go get some more...

I can't help but wonder about the little pup though. Is that an old or stolen mold from something? Also the Swiss army knife-type of comb and brush is a surprisingly good quality.

I was going to say those are like the old Cititoy pups! The face is a dead giveaway to me. Too bad they don't bring back the blue one I had as a child. I called it a hippo-dog because it was blue with a hippo-like face.
