Pony Party Ideas

So I turn 30 in Sept! Still scary for me...but in the fun of my collecting and growing up in the 80's, I am hosting a MLP birthday party!! Super nervous...but what are some party ideas? So far the guest know that its going to be a kid like birthday party for adults:P Most friends my age have kids so I want them to feel they can come too:)

I will have pin the tail on pinkie....or pin the eyes on Pony) not sure which one to draw:)

We have drinks taken care of and these are for all ages...but I want some more game ideas...I do have a dance game wii so maybe making something out of that...I just want a few more pony related games or ideas that are kid friendly....

Food will be cutie mark cupcakes:) I wonder what is more out there?

The point is that this should be a kids party but grown ups are the guest:) I am a huge kids... I am adding my age so I am turning 3!!!! hehehe...I will have a contest for my birthday month....not sure what it will be but keep a watch for Sept:)

I know this is way early but I will be in a musical starting Aug...so plan now so in the few hours of the day I have when the play starts I am not rushing:)

My mom and i are throwing a surprise My little pony party for my sister when it comes around. We're gonna get the blindbag ponies and put those on cupcakes, and either make a pony shaped cake, or get a cake and decorate it like Applejack's farm and put a figurine of Applejack on it

I just had a my little pony tea party for my daughter. We did follow the pony, and a pony piñata. And the cake had a rainbow (sour strap) with clouds and some ponyvilles on it. And pony themed cupcakes.

I also had pony coloring pages out for the kids to colour in.

Seconding the idea of pony pinata! Maybe 'Applejack's Apple Bobbing'? Something to do with Rarity and dressing up?

If you have some baits or can get some baity ponies, you could have customising competitions?

You could also get all of your childhood favourite party foods, to make it feel that more nostalgic.. even play 80s music, and the classic party games.. pass the parcel, musical statues, with pony themed prizes!

These are fantastic links! I like the idea of traditional childrens games...nothing wrong with pass the parcel and a pony prize at the centre...you could even have a blind bag or two hidden in different layers.

Depending on how adult a party it is...what about main pony cocktails?

I just had a pony party for my daughter in May (and I'm planning to do it for myself the next time I have a birthday!) I love the suggestions for games and things, wish I had seen them before Lily's party. We had an obstacle course pony race, and a pony dance party.

I made ears and tails for the guests and they were a big hit, but it was kinda time consuming. Here's a link to the idea I based it off of anyway.

For food, we had cake, of course, although dd requested a dinosaur cake, but otherwise it was pony themed. I had carrots and apple slices, I made "haystacks" which are what we've always called those cooky/candy things made out of chow mein noodles and melted butterscotch chips. The recipe was easy to find, there are a bunch out there. They're super duper easy, and yummy! I also made these fruit flowers at the link below. They were pretty easy too, and super cool. I used a maraschino cherry for the center instead of watermelon. Don't take them out of the freezer too soon, though. The apple gets a weird texture when it thaws!

OMG i totally had a pony party for my 30th bday!!!!!
it was a total blast!!!!
i definately reccommend going to Dollar Tree or $.99 store!!
my bday is in october so they had a bunch of dress up stuff
and lots of cool little toys as prizes

- Told friends to dress like a pony or a cowboy (some will and some wont)
- Everyone had to wear a colored wig or wings to look like a pony (got these at dollar store)

Games:
- Pin the tail on the pony: i made one by putting a coloring page (one of TAF buttons) on a trasnparancy then putting it on an overhead projector and tracing it on to poster board (i was a teacher at the time so i had access to that stuff)
- Pony guessing game: show them a pony and the they have to guess the name (multiple choice)
- eat like a pony: guests sit at a table with hands behind their back they have to eat an apple. who ever eats the most in 2 minutes (or however long you want) wins
- Custom contest:  bought a bunch of fakies from dollar tree. you can get cheap paint and jewels from the dollar store too. you pick the winner

Food:
- made a pony cake.
- rainbow sherbert and bubblegum ice cream
- make rainbow icecubes to put in drinks (can use food coloring or different kool aid/gatorades)

Decorations:
-have an mlp dvd playing in the background
- use a G3 table cloth and cut all the ponies out and taped them to the wall.
- found plastic multicolored horse shoes at teh thrift store (used for the game of horseshoes) and laid them through the house so it looked like rainbow hoof prints. you can use them for the game of horse shoes too. i didnt cause i dont have a yard.

and of course add alcohol and presto!! you have a super fun 30th birthday!!

none of my friends are pony people but they ALL had a blast!!

I love pony parties, yaaaaay What would be fun is buying a G4 from the store and wrap it about 7 or so times in different colored wrapping paper. Then have someone with their back to the guests turn on a off some music while the wrapped pony is being passed from person to person. Each time the music stops, the person holding the pony gets to unwrap 1 layer of wrapping paper. Start up the music again and then on the last turn, the person who unwraps the last layer gets to keep the pony!

Party City!!!!  They have MLP party supplies galore!  I love that "bobbing for apples" idea, it reminds me of the scene in Luna, Eclipsed.  Definitely suggest going as colourful as you can possibly make it.  Maybe you can make a mix-CD of various pony songs to play, or like what was said above, putting on a pony DVD.  I always thought those Blind Bags would make fun favours (but they can be costly if bought in bulk, unfortunately).  But of course, Party City has fun, inexpensive stuff you can get as favours.  And, of course, pony balloons!  Another thing you might find fun is to have a Pinkie dance-off.  Everyone can do the silliest dance they can think of, and the person who gets the most laughter out of the audience can win a fun prize or something.  You know that Pinkie, she loves being silly and making her friends laugh!
