I've had that problem with sealer but not the actual paint.  Hmmm, perhaps old paint?

Well its not the most expensive paint in the world, so maybe its that? Or maybe I'm putting it on too thick...

Actually now that I think of it I did have a red Americana that was tacky no matter what I did to it.  I don't know if it was a bad batch, or because it was cheap.  Sealing helped but really not that much.  I ended up pitching it and redoing the fbr.

I've only had that problem with Mod Podge as my sealer and with really REALLY cheap paints. By cheap paints, I mean off brands..like walmart crap or even Joann's brand. Apple Barrel, Ceramcoat, Folk Art, Testors, those all have been fine with me.

Strangely, I just experienced this with artist acrylics. Cheap ones, mind, but still... I've never had any problems with craft quality paints like Folk Art. These are also fine when mixed with Folk Art which is why I never noticed this before but now that I used some colours straight out of the tube they turned sticky. Luckily sealing fixed the problem for me.

I had an Americana paint, that I didn't realise it was actually a 'gloss' rather than just standard acrylic and that ended up just being sticky no matter how many times I sealed it :/

I just used spray paint on a pony body and it turned out tacky. I'm thinking it's a reaction with the material; the head turned out fine and I've used the same can of spray paint on my resin customs, it's never done this for me before. But yeah, Krylon brand black spray paint. I also had that problem with sealer- Blair brand matte spray finish has done that on every pony I've tried it on.

Older paints will often get sticky- as will gloss paints. If you have that trouble- try watering it down a bit. :)
