Pullip Regeneration - Discussions
« on: June 23, 2012, 01:25:53 AM »
Hello!
So, Pullip are re-releasing some of their most popular dolls, such as Alice, Paja, Noir & Anne.

How do you think the new re-releases are going to effect the older models pricing?

I admit it -- I was sort of excited about Alice coming back out -- cause I can't afford her otherwise.
BUT I can also understand not wanting that, if you own any of the popular older girls. Like I have Panda (with her stock)...she's no Paja...but she isn't cheap. the re-release of her will bring down the originals price....tho maaybe it won't. cause there will still be people who WANT that original. I would imagine that the regens have SOME difference (other than the body)
so, i guess I am on the fence about them. would still love a MIB Alice.....and I wouldn't turn my nose up at a Paja in her adorable dino suit

I think people who didn't want to pay the high price for Paja, like me (she's an example, put whatever Pullip you want in her place), will be glad to have a chance to get her for a cheap price. Those who wanted Paja but couldn't afford her, well they were not the ones making the prices go up, so they will only turn to the Regeneration version and that's all. Those who wanted the original and were ready to pay the high price will still want to do that, so in my opinion things won't change much with the Regeneration series :)

After re-reading my post, I'm not sure if I make sense, don't hesitate to tell me if that's not the case XD

I don't think things will change much, either. I'm not a pullip expert, but collectors will always want the originals, and as Sandell said, the customers willing to pay a premium for originals will most likely not settle for regeneration Pullips.

Pretty much this. You might miss the market sliver of people who want the doll and will either pay the high dollar for the original, but don't mind getting a repro for a lower price. But overall, I think the majority of people who want the original will suck it up and pay the higher price.

Is the line going to be/already called "Pullip Regreneration"? or is that just a term for Pullips being re-released?

If they released a regular Miku again, I might actually give into resisting pullips for so long and get one!

The Regeneration series is just the 2003-2004 dolls at the moment. :)

And was only slated for six releases, so that means no more regen dolls unless they change their mind about it.

I agree that I don't think it'll make that big of a difference.  Hardcore collectors that want the original, will still pay for the original.  I never wanted the original Alice enough to pay that much for her, but I'd probably go for a Re-gen...And I'll scoop up a Re-gen Paja as well, since I sold my original and she's the only doll I've sold that I regret letting go of.

Some of you are so out of the loop eh, hehe - six regens have already been released, and according to this "six regens only" info, that's it.

I'm in the 'not-angry-at-Groove-for-rereleasing' camp. I don't think it's impossible that the regens will make the price on the originals go down a little bit, at least right now when they're new, but I also don't really care. Plus now they're focusing everyone's attention on these six, so who's to say the price of the originals wont actually go up because of this!

Anyway the regens are different enough from the originals, with their huge pupils and blank stares, that I don't think it will affect the market much. And the regens are limited and pricey as well so their price is bound to go up too once they've sold out!
