How to clean ponies with electric parts?
« on: May 31, 2012, 02:45:34 PM »
Feel like I'm making way too many threads lately, hope you all don't mind :S. I did a search but nothing came up.

So, yes. I'm midway through a big pony spring clean. Every pony is getting an appointment at the pony salon (my bathroom sink), having a bath and having her hair cleaned and conditioned.

However, I've realised I don't really know how to clean my Lily Lightly. Obviously holding her under the tap would be a BAD idea, so are any tips as to how I would clean her up? I guess this would relate to all other electronic ponies too!

Thank you for your help!  :good:

This is what I usually do:

First take out the batteries so if a little water does get inside it won't corrode.  Then wash with a damp cloth with just a little soap and use another damp cloth to rinse it off.  Dry with towel.

Hair is tricky because it wicks moisture.  You can wash the ends, just use as little water as possible.

Make sure completely dry before putting batteries back in.  Leave "open" or in two pieces depending on how the batteries are installed.

I've done what Ringlets suggests. It's a little tricky to get all the soap or whatever cleaner you use off, and I've actually avoided washing the hair if I can, but it works. Also, you can hold the pony upside-down while you wash the hair to keep water from running into the openings, and towel-dry it immediately. Again, a little tricky, but doable.

Ok great, thank you both! Her hair does need something done with it, it's a frizzfest! Haha!

If I've got a don't get wet pony, I love the magic eraser for it.

If the hair is not too dirty, I'll spray a detangler or leave in conditioner in it. Then comb from tips to roots.

Carefully!

In seriousness if there is anything like this I am worried about, I clean the body with baby wipes and the hair, as BFB says, with a water scoosh bottle and mist the hair with water and brush through. Sometimes as careful as you can be its just not worth the potential damage risk.
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi
