Worst... boxes... EVER

I cut my finger open on the Pony School Pals set, but the playful pony packages have been okay so far - it's just a case of slicing the sellotape on both sides and the bottom and then pulling the plastic bubble off the card.

My lovely new Cherry Pie has a dented rump though, which I think is from the way she was held in the plastic tray.

Oh yes! G4 packaging is crazy [I am thinking HB have yet to implement their supposed "green" less packaging policy on G4s]...its not so much the cardboard its the blooming plastic the ponies are sealed in - I just about removed 3 fingernails and one of StarSwirls ears trying to release her from the plastic and I always think I am about to pull all their hair out when I try to release it!

For G4s, I just take a scissor, take one part of it, press it againsed the side, and cut down. Then I do it to the other side, and the bottom. That's how I save my backcards.

I had so much trouble getting Raritys  carosel out the box I actually broke the spinning mechanism doing it!

Hasbro is notorious for this it seems...every LPS gift occasion required big kitchen scissors and my mom very often injured herself trying to do it for me, which always made me sad.

For one the cardboard is so dang thick...and they have to tie and wire every little bit inside. Drives me nuts, although I've been somewhat more lucky with my G4 Ponies—although I've only gotten the basic single packs so far.

My method of deboxing ponies:

Get someone else to do it for you.

My method:  slice open box, cut pony's hair and tail off, and voila, pony has been freed!
(90% of the time I'm buying them to mod anyway, so I just toss out everything)

For the outer parts I take a scissor, press it lightly against the tape and drag it along the edges. For the pony itself it's a combo of press and drag. Imagine how you'd press candy out of a plastic container, that's sort of how I do then I pull her out by grabbing her head if the other method don't work. But the G4 boxes are horrible, I don't get why you'd need all that plastic when it actually looks less flattening for the product. :/

I am an MIB collector of G4s so I don't usually open the boxes, but I opened the TRU Blind Bag Box and that took me forever!  I had to use scissors to get those little ponies out of the plastic molds.

It seems like most toys have impossible to open packaging now - not just ponies the number of times I have sliced my hand open on shards of plastic O_O
