A pony for my mom on Mother's Day

My mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer earlier this year.  She was only stage 0, so with 1 surgery, the cancer was removed.  Thank GOD.  But, to achieve a bigger percentage of the cancer not returning, she still had to undergo 30+ radiation treatments.  No chemo, but the radiation was bad enough.  She concluded it just 2 weeks ago & her skin around her breast, has been burnt by the procedure.  She still continues to be in pain every day in that area. 
(And...all of this cancer this year comes almost EXACTLY a year after we found out my dad had lung cancer.  Luckily, with both chemo & radiation last year, within a few months, he beat it).  So, this has been a pretty rough time for me, the last year & few months. 


Now, to the pony....
For mother's day this year, I got my mom a card, 2 dozen wooden roses & randomly I came up with the idea to make my mommy a breast cancer pony.  I dyed an already very light pink pony a little darker pink.  Then, re-haired in dollyhair colors old bubblegum & a little bit of moonlight.  Curled hair with curlers for almost 2 days, so they came out extra curly.  The mane & tail hair are both kinda short, but I like it that way, because my mom has short hair that she curls everyday.  Painted a pink ribbon on her for her mark, and also decided to paint common words that are on breast cancer bracelets.  Faith, Hope, Strength, & Courage.  I kept the ribbon & words light colored pink, to just keep her delicate.  You can see them better in person I promise.


My mom absolutely loved her yesterday, even though she's not big on toys at her age!!  LOL

Thank you all soooo much for the well wishes!!!  She's doing good..just been going to her doctor a lot since last week to get more pain meds.  But I am sure she will be just perfect soon! 


The curls came out totally awesome, I couldn't have wished them to be better!  Later I did get her curls a little more out of her face when I gave her to my mom.


hyena, I thought for fathers day I should do a lung cancer for my dad...he would be like "huh???" & I'd laugh.  I laugh just thinking about his reaction.  Maybe I'll just make one & show him.  IDK!  LOL

Just thanks for the compliments for her, I really love this pony!!  And I can see her every time I go to my parents!!  Yay!
