Dad Surprised my Mom and I and got us a Nook Color

But we have a problem we can't get them setup I even tried setting it up with our computer still didn't work we do not know what to do we don't wanna bring them back to the Store but if we can't get WIFI setup we can't do nothing with our Color Nooks we are upset over this.

Hmmm.  All I can think of is doing a search for your specific problem.  I'm sure there's advice online for it.  That, or bring it to your local B&N for help.

do you just have one computer?  i think you need to have a router to have wifi for other devices in the house.

I'd suggest checking with a store like suggested. They should be familiar with the setup of the system and be able to help.

Yes we took them to Barne's N Noble they got them setup for my Mom&I we still can't do much with them but I did download some of my pictures I have of The Bands and Singers I like off our computer onto my Nook color though.

Yeah but to download them to your Nook you have to be somewhere where there is a WIFI connection/Wireless connection.

It should be easy enough to establish wifi if you have internet..though im not hte one that does that around here so I wouldnt know forsure

We have Dial Up on our computer so it is a phone line we use but it is on the same phone line as our phone's I wish my Dad would upgrade to broadband or high Speed but he won't he need's to I do have internet I do not know where to buy a wireless router or how much it is.

unfortunately your nooks arent going to work at your house.  you would need broadband, and a wireless router.  however, there are places that let you use their wifi for free. like mcdonald's, starbucks, any where else that advertises it.  you can go there and get onto the connection, you can find out locally at the place whether youd need a password or anything like that.

Routers can be found lots of places that sell electronics. Walmart, Target, Best Buy.... But no, unless you have wireless internet, you won't be able to get books to them without sideloading. Apps are almost impossible to sideload. I remember how frustrating dial up is (I had it until 3 years ago) so...

Here's something I found someone made for their mother to side load to a nook simple touch. The process should be similar.

If you don’t have WiFi access and you buy a book from B&N, you can download it the PC and then sideload it to the Nook.  Sideloading is simply a fancy term for copying the book from your PC to the Nook.  So how do you do this?
 
Buy the book
Open Nook for PC on your computer
Nook for PC should automatically sync to your online account and download the book.  If it doesn’t, click on the sync icon in the upper right corner.
Make sure that My Library – All Items or My Library – eBooks is selected on the left.
If the sort button doesn’t say Recent, click on it until it does.  This will put your new books at the top. (Note, in the instructions for her, I have a picture of this)
Once your book is downloaded to Nook for PC, connect your Nook to the computer.
You should see a popup window that says “DEVICE DETECTED”.  Click yes.
Now you should see a file sharing window.  The left white box is the Nook, the right white box is your computer (desktop).
Click on My Library next to the word Desktop.
Find the book you want to transfer and click on it to highlight it.  If you want to transfer more than one book, hold down the control key on your keyboard and click the next book you want to transfer.
Click on the left facing double arrow between the two white boxes.  This will transfer the files.
Now you should see the books in the left (Nook) white box, indicating they have been copied onto the Nook.  (Note:  They will still be on the desktop side also.)
You have completed transferring the books to the Nook.  Now you need to eject the Nook and disconnect from the computer.
Open Windows Explorer (File Manager), locate the Nook drive on the left pane.  Right mouse click and select eject.
Open the Nook to the library and your books should be there.  If you have the sort order set to recent, they should be at the top.  If not, they’ll either be in author or title order.
Alternate to step 7.  If you already have your Nook connected when you load Nook for PC, then click on "My Stuff" on the left and click on the button at the top that says "Manage Devices" to open the file sharing window.
