will deboxing a common g4 decrease value a lot?

i am moving back home from college on wed and i was just curious. I have an applejack that i am not sure if i am going to keep.  her box is squished where the logo is at the top, and i really dont want to have to deal with trying to not squish it more.... should i just debox her and save myself the hassle and room?

If the way G3's have gone is any indication, nothing short of a mint box/pony will increase its value (unless it was already a limited release) since many collectors who want MIB bought them new from the store for that purpose.  Even at that, many are still under their retail value ten years later.  The reason G1 ponies are worth a lot in the package is that hardly anyone was collecting toys back then. 


You might as well take her out and enjoy your pony.

Does she have bangs or no? The Mane 6 without bangs are going to be the most common ponies at the rate they're being churned out in "new" sets, so if she doesn't have bangs I say debox. If she does have bangs, I guess it depends on how damaged the box is.

Unlikely. Also I've seen a lot of bronies hoarding unopened ponies as an investment for the future. There might be enough left once the production ends to keep the value low.

MIB works with G1 and G2 to add value because there were not many collectors back then "thinking" about the value of such ponies in the future. As we can see with G3 MIB prices which are pretty much the same as original retail value [except for exclusives, mail order and internationals], there are so many of these about that MIB or loose adds little to no value. Hopefully in years to come values will increase again a little.

But with the sheer volume of collectors now keeping G4 ponies MIB...personally I think the market in the future will be pretty abundant so I wouldnt worry about keeping her MIB to add value...but at the end of the day its your call...how will you enjoy her more loose or in her box? [Personally I say free that little lady!]

I was going to say, if you've already damaged her box, open her.  I am sure plenty of people are hoarding them MIB for resale...    Enjoy your Applejack!
