Mexican Prince (Princess) Ponies
« on: April 29, 2012, 04:46:30 PM »
I have recently found an infatuation with the Mexican Prince ponies! I have 2 so far :) So I want to know more about them.

Are there only 3 Mexican Prince ponies? I am not sure of their actual names, but I have Dawn and Misty, and am on the hunt for Moondust.

Is any one of them harder to come across than the rest?

Are they all about the same price point?
Man who wear lampshade on head is bright!

Those are the only 3 - i wouldn't say they are too terribly hard to find, I would say about $30-$40 may be the price for each of them

They could be tricky to find in NM-M condition, as many of the Mexis I see (on ebay at least) tend to be a bit grubby or have eye rubs. If I remember correctly, Misty is Prince Sapphire, Dawn is Prince Ruby and Moondust is Prince Emerald. :awake:

I really like them too, but why are they called princes?

On the Mexican packaging the set is referred to as Prince ponies rather than Princess. I'm not sure why the Mexican toy company made that change.

Mexican ponies are actually male in Mexico =)  The boxes say they are males =)  Even for the Baby Sea Ponies.

And they are amazing =D  I'm just missing Prince Ruby...  Have 2 Princes Emerald and 4 Prince Sapphire =)

Sometimes the most elusive (and pricey) is Prince Sapphire, but lately I've seen a lot on eBay.

And yes, they can be tricky to get in NM condition, my dear mexicans tend to have a lot of issues, hair, body and paint (but there's also amazing NM condition ones that are just to drool over).

I love the Mexican princes, I was really lucky to find my Prince Ruby in mint condition, he even had the plastic seal around his hair, he has to be my fave of the set, so handsome x

they are prince ponies ;) BOYS!

they used to sell for a pretty penny! i paid $100 for my prince ruby a godd few years back, but then again mexican ponies were harder to find then and he is in lovely condition.

prince ruby (dawn) ~ about $30-$40 right now easiest/least sought after.
prince emerald (moondust) ~ about $40ish right now second easiest/second sort after.
prince sapphire (misty) ~ $50-$60 right now hardest to find/most sought after.

they have three rows of plugs at the front of their manes for the crown clip, this is instead of the tinsel forlock :)
