Raffle to pay veterinarian bills

Some of you may have seen my posts in the "What's Your Problem?" forums recently about my cat. To condense it, Charlotte is 10 years old, and has had a sudden behavioral shift. She is sullen and just lays around in her cubby hole for 4 - 5 hours at a time, has taken to peeing on the bedspread.. We thought maybe it was a bladder infection and we took her to the vet, and got medication.. A week later, she's on her second bottle of her medicine, and has started vomiting. She's vomiting about 3-5 times a night while we are at work, and about the same during the day.

We took her in today to get some blood work done to find out whats wrong.. And with so few symptoms to go on, the vet is stumped. She can't talk and tell us what's wrong. We can't figure out what it would be, as we ruled out all of the obvious.

For now, she has some special food to eat that costs $35 for an 8.5lb bag that is good for her digestive tract, and some hairball medicine, even though she has Never puked like this with a hairball before. Ever.

In total, we are out $340 so far and we had to dip into my husbands savings to do this. We can't afford any other emergencies any time soon, let alone any more medicine or tests, and paying utilities is going to be tricky.

So, that's the cause. A sick cat that is like a child to me. After feedback here, on Google, tumblr and another forum I frequent, I have decided to go ahead with the raffle.

You can find my deviant art over here.. I have a lot of photos there.. I have the supplies to make fantasy film fairy wings, but I haven't made them before, yet. Just due to time constraints. If you want them, and are willing to give me a little leeway on time to play around with them first to get the hang of it, then I am happy to offer wings. I have only just started on my first pair of Apoxie feathered wings. Im sure they will get better with practice also.

The contest will run now through June 9th, 2012. This will give me time to finish up my current commissions so I can focus on the winner.

I'm going to handle this raffle through ChipIn, which basically organizes and logs paypal payments. All money is collected with the ChipIn widget on the right hand side of my Tumblr page, which in turn takes you through PayPal. ChipIn will log everyone who contributes, and how much they contribute. At the end of the two month entry period, I will draw a winner from the donation pool.

I think this is a great idea, every little bit helps in a situation like this.  Just be careful about paypal they are big jerks about raffles.

Thanks. I might use ChipIn.com to organize it. It basically handles all of the "raffle" money coming in, and even keeps the names sorted for you. They don't charge you anything either. Just the paypal fees.

I remember the first night you brought Charlotte home.  She's such a dear.  We just went through this with Anya and luckily she seems to have recovered (though we never did find out WHY she was sick).  I'll participate however necessary.

Thank you Rybett and Colorscapesart I shall indeed give her some extra snuggles from you Rybett. She will enjoy them very much. This kitty is the super snuggly kind and I have her spoiled. When my husband and I go to bed, she walks up near our heads and stands on HIS head (never mine lol) till I let her under the covers. She sleeps curled up in the crook of one arm, or on my stomach. I love snuggle time so much!
