Need some BJD advice
« on: January 27, 2012, 07:10:22 PM »
Ok here the story a few years ago I bought an Angel of Dream Lighting Ver. Nicole doll. Anyway her head come lose because I was an idiot and turned the hook that her head on, so now I can't get the hook to go back to the right spot and her head keeps falling off.

Tell the truth I was never really happy with the doll to begin with, the back of her head come off way to easy and the swords that came with the doll weren't painted. Maybe I should just the doll and head?

Any advice?

is there a loop on the cap of the head? something that the S-hook could hook onto?
That's how I remember my AOD being...

IF that's the case, get a pair of hemostats (you can get them from the walmart fishing section for 3-5$), set your dolls head aside, pull up the shook up - stretching the elastic out a bit, and clamp the string at the base of the neck (so now you have a length of elastic sticking up.

slide the head on, and then hook the s hook on the headcap before carefully removing the hemostats (while holding the head/headback together firmly (so the head doesn't snap back on from the tension) and then resting the head back on the neck again.

If that's not the case, and you have a low temp hot glue gun, put a generous amount of hot glue around the inside bottom of the head (around the hole where the s-hook comes out) that should help grip the s-hook.

If you're not used to BJD and are having problems with her hook, what about changing it for a larger one, or for an "O" ring or anything that wouldn't get throught her neck hole? You will have to remove it each time you'd remove her head, but, well, how often would you remove it anyway?Special itens commonly come unpainted with the BJDs (you'd have to order the makeup/blushing/costum service, unless the painting is listed as part of the set). There painting tecnic for BJDs isn't the most simple and requires special materials (such as product calles MSC Flat to fix the painting), but you could also use nail polish to paint it. I paint my dolls (or parts) with nail polishing and I never had problems with it...or removing it. You can remove it using nail polish remover WITHOUT acetone. (just be sure there isn't acetone in it and you'd be fine).
