Ok so I was showing my new boyfriend some amazing ponies by Woosie and Trillions and he was floored by Trillions' Jay pony. He loves the wings on it and wanted one similar to it. He for sure would love the wings, and a few of the stray feathers on the leg.  He's getting really excited that I said someone may be able to help recreate that pony for him.

I don't know, I wouldn't feel comfortable copying another artist's design.

People have asked me to do that in the past, and I told them they could only buy a custom from me if I do it in my own style... They showed me a painted custom, so I suggested I take the same character (not owned by the customizer) and make it a outfit, give accurate expressionism, and a more accurate and elaborate hair style...

You might be able to have someone recreate it in their own methods, quality and skill but don't be too disappointed if no one's willing to copy it. You'll actually want them to change it up quite a bit and only have it vaguely resemble Trillion's work...

As a matter of fact, I commissioned Trillions last year, so she might still be around and available to do a custom like that, for you. It's worth contacting her!

Most artists frown on copying off of other people.. It's sort of not cool to do.. You might find someone willing to do something similar though, not a straight copy. Why not try asking Trillions for a commission? Im not sure if she has any open right now or not, so that may not be feasible. Anyway.. Best of luck to you. I still suggest asking for something a bit different than a straight copy.

I'm not really asking to copy this exactly I was trying to ask for something similar. I was just saying the bluejay wings are what he really wants and Trillions hasn't posted anything on deviantart for a whole year so i didn't know I could.

...yeah asking someone to copy someone else's style, especially for money, is a HUGE no-no in the art world, and it certainly carries over into the pony world too. It's one thing if you want a pony with wings, and if that's what you want, then ask for that...but don't ever ask another artist to copy someone directly. That's a wonderful way to piss the original artist off.

I would be happy to work with you and try to come up with a design that your bf would love. If you'd like I can work on some concept art.  (what kind of symbol are you thinking?) Are you wanting to choose a g3 baby for the base or do you think you will move to full scale G3 or even G4?
