Personal Interview-
Where did you get your user name?
Loa comes from a high school nickname. Once upon a time (when the world was young) I was Loababypony, and over the centuries it's been reduced to Loa.
How old are you?
Younger than King Charles!
Do you go to school or work?
I work long hard hours for the government, but I also have to do schooling to improve my Te Reo Maori. NZ is a country with three official languages and I know one, can ask for food in another and can only sign rude words in the third.
What are your hobbies?
World domination, reading, gaming, genealogy
Do you have any pets?
2 barrel shaped cats. I have to stop at 2 otherwise I would be a crazy cat lady. Also, one would like to point out he is a sleek orange beast and not a barrel.
What do you like/dislike about yourself?
We do not have enough bandwidth for that!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Ooooooh. Thailand? I loved Bangkok!
Do you collect anything other than ponies?
Books, Funko Pop’s (only a select few). I did collect Pullips but I’m looking to sell those.
Ponies-
How long have you been collecting ponies?
I started as a kid and then again when I was 20.
Why did you start collecting ponies?
Nostalgia and a passion for collecting.
Who is your favourite pony and why?
Twistie Tail - I got her MIB as a kid and adored her. She’s kinda not spoken about compared to the others in that set and she’s just so COOL.
Who is your least favorite pony and why?
I believe my hatred for Banana Surprise is well known. WHY. Her pose remodel makes her look so bad, and that powder pink with that seaweed hair. Wouldn’t she be better with banana coloured hair?
Who is your favorite Nirvana pony?
Um. I’m quite fond of the Greek Egg ponies as Kcat let me fondle them once upon a time! *Fondle fondle*
Who is your favorite fakie?
Princess Rinse and Spit, purely for the community name for her.
Who was your first pony?
Peachy! Back in 1980-something, I got the full Peachy stable. I suspect that releases here were done when they arrived via a very slow ship, so I got Peachy, new, in like 1987?
What pony did you get recently?
Alternate Pose Twistie Tail.
What is your favourite generation?
G1, followed by G3, but G2 has won me over.
What is your favourite part about collecting?
I love the anticipation, and unboxing. The community has also been a stellar and constant presence for 20 years!
How big is your collection?
Not very at all. I think, maybe, 10 of my favourites? I’m going to repurchase a few but then concentrate on the sets I love. Money, space and circumstances all played into the loss of my collection.
What do your friends and family think about your collection?
It depends who you ask. It makes me happy and it's part of who I am, but my siblings think collecting is such a “Dad” thing to do as my Dad also collects things. Both of them went the other way, screaming away from any suggestion of collecting.
Do you still play with your ponies?
No, just display and tiding display.
What rare or popular pony makes you ask why!?
I don’t think any of them do!
If you had to have a pony symbol tattooed on your butt, which would you pick and why?
How do you know I don’t already?! Maybe Baby Moondream’s symbol or one of the Lily of the Valley’s as that’s my birth flower and not that strange.
If you could have any pony remade in a different generation, who would you choose and why?
I think a lot of the G2 ponies would be SO popular as G1’s. Or even G3’s!
What has been the worst part about collecting?
I’ve had a lot of interesting challenges as an Arena Admin but as a collector, I think it's the mindset that leeched into the general populace that EVERY pony is rare. Especially with those listicles that float around with “If you owned these toys in the 80’s you’ll be a millionaire now!”. 3 legged, dog bitten, one eyed peachy’s were on Ebay for hundreds and it ruined the market for collectors.
What is your ultimate collecting goal?
To get every petite pony ever.
What is your biggest collecting accomplishment?
I think it was when I completed all the G1 baby twins. So hard to find those little beggers!
What is your biggest collecting regret?
I do and don’t regret selling my collection. Selling it meant I could afford some major changes in my life but even so, it was so sad to see it all go! Now I think I’m going to start again small; get the ones I love, get the Petite ponies (I am obsessed) and the Mommy Charms.
Who is your grail pony and why? Do you have it?
Honestly, I’d really like to have both versions of Twistie Tail MOC/MIB but I’ve never seen them for sale!
Do you prefer loose or MIP ponies?
I appreciate the nostalgic beauty of a MIP, as I love the box art. It’s just not the same these days.
Do you collect Nirvanas?
No. I’ve seen a lot, fondled a lot but never actually owned one.

Are you a customizer? Would you ever be?
I tried in, like, 2005? 2006? And I am useless. My ADD needs be to be doing 3 things at once so I literally don’t have the patience.
What do you think of custom ponies?
I own quite a few and there are some fantastically talented people out there.
What are acceptable and unacceptable pony flaws, in your opinion?
I can live with regrind and mild hair trims. Everything else I pass on, unless its a place holder for me.
Would you rather have a bait pony or a fakie?
It really depends on the context. Is this a fight to the death? Will Princess Rinse & Spit defend my honour like a llama?
Do you watch pony shows/movies? Which ones?
I am slowly trying to indoctrinate my nieces into the G1 shows much to my brothers horror. He turns purple every time I do.
Do you read pony comics?Which ones?
Never have!
What is the worst thing you've ever done to a pony?
Back when I first started collecting I thought to clean a pony completely with acetone. I didn’t not think about the symbols. Thankfully that pony was bait but even so.
