It's hard to see if there's damage from the picture, but I would think that a gentle wash with something like soap or mild shampoo and then a careful comb through should help. It depends if the hair fibres are actually damaged, and because BF ponies aren't quite the same as old ponies, I'm not 100%, but it doesn't look unsalvageable.
