Is this mold?
« on: August 21, 2017, 11:20:40 AM »
I've been working my way through cleaning the ponies I got yesterday. I happened to crack open Moondancer, and this was what she looked like inside:

Is this black mold? It sure looks like black mold.

More discouragingly, I noticed my two new So Softs had suspicious black stains all over them as well. Here's Shady:

Are these spots mold, or could they just be something else black having stained her flocking?

It does look like mould in Moondancer :( a good scrub in hot water will sort it out.

Does Shady smell musty or mouldy at all?

Yeah, I figured it was with Moondancer. Thank you!

As for the smell, I can't tell if Shady or Moondancer smells any mustier than the average g1 - they all smell weird and old to me.

Psst, any insight on Shady? The black spots all over her are really concerning. Her flocking is already half gone, so any kind of mold treatment would remove it completely.

I would probably treat Shady just in case even if it does mean loosing the flocking. That kind of black mold is actually quite toxic so it's not good for you to breathe in possible spores from her.

D: oh dear. I might just put her and Moondancer in a sealed container and sell them as moldy baits... I don'thave access to anything that would remove mold for the foreseeable future. #dormlife

Thank you so much! I guess I'll just bait her, haha.

The other other ponies from the bags show no signs of mold, should I be worried about them as well?

If they don't look moldy, I don't think there is anything to worry about.
