Baby Sea Pony Hair Help
« on: October 18, 2016, 07:28:41 AM »
So i picked up a lets say...well-loved baby Baby Sealight at a garage sale. Her hair is destroyed and no amount of hair fixing tricks i can find are helping. So at this point i would just replace the hair but these watercolor baby sea ponies have a silky hair very unlike the normal stuff. Does anyone know an accurate replacement?

No idea sorry!  I know there's thermal colour-changing hair out there, but it wouldn't come in all the same colour pairs as the seaponies or be the same texture.  I think they're one of those sets you just have to love as they are, or else customise.

I thought it was their bodies that changed color. Rehairing could be a solution, but you must want to spend time on it.

The watercolor ponies have hair that is very yarn like. I think you could find some nice yarn/fiber that is similar and then brush it out to try and get a similar effect. It probably won't change colors unless you go with nylon hair that can change.
I think it depends if you want it to be accurate look/feel, or effect!

Both the hair and the body change colours, and the hair does go all fluffy when it's been overworn. I kinda like it when it's soft like that. The real hair is definitely different from pony hair and I'm not sure there is any accurate replacement, so it would really be a case of choosing one of her colours and rooting her normally, or using thermal hair but accepting it isn't the same colour or texture.

I'd personally just leave her and upgrade if you don't like the hair as it is. There are still ponies around with hair in good condition, even if it doesn't still change.

The Watercolor baby sea ponies have a very different kind of hair from other ponies.  Are you sure it's really ruined, or is it just the unique attributes of the hair coming through? :)

Their hair is limp, very soft, very thin individual strands, and quite cottony.  Not very shiny compared to normal pony hair.  It is supposed to change color but can lose that ability over time.
