Diamond Mint . . . G1 Sparkler's descendant?

Okay, they aren't exactly the same--for example, Sparkler isn't filled with water and she has a red streak in her mane, but still they're both unicorns with purple hair, diamond symbols, and blue-ish bodies.  I'd like to think there's some kind of family connection there.

Now that you post them together I can see some of the similarities.
I still think that Rarity reminds me the most of Sparkler, even though their overall colors are different

I always see Rarity as Glory with a borrowed symbol. Diamond Mint, though...definitely could be Sparkler...although again, symbols slightly off...

i've never noticed the resemblance before... good catch! i've always thought of Rarity as Sparkler's descendant, but now i'll always see Diamond Mint as being part of that family tree.

I always feel like Rarity and Diamond Mint are cousins. I've definitely seen Sparkler as being related to Rarity. Never really thought of it - but that would make Diamond Mint related as well.

There is a resemblance there!
I wish Hasbro get to do the mane/pony color mixes that other gens did though. Instead of a lot of pink bodies, theres not a single red pony, or a deep green, or neon ponies (not hair).
