How to re-flock a So Soft Pony?
« on: July 05, 2016, 11:40:33 AM »
I've been looking around but haven't really found a good awnser of examples with.

Since I just refuse to buy So Softs with flocking problems. I thought I might but ONLY if there is a way to re-flock a pony without obvious amature signs.

Is it possible? If so, how? And how would it look like? What materials do you use etc. And is partially flocking possible? Or will you have to de-flock the whole pony first before being able to flock it again properly?

Ugh...so many questions.

Anyone knows the awnser?

Without an industrial flocking machine (which, if I recall correctly uses some serious high voltage) it's not possible to make factory-perfect flocking.  Most individual attempts involve glue and manually placed fibres which makes for an obvious repair, particularly if the area isn't tiny.

The problems are 1) there is no flocking that you can buy that is similar in texture to what Hasbro was using in the 1980s  2) You need an electro-static flocking gun to apply so that it stands up on end.

There is no way of "repairing" holes in flocking.  For ponies with terrible flocking, I think it is better to just remove the flocking completely. Then they look brand new!

That tutorial is amazing. But it looks so difficult and time consuming. Don't think my 3 year old son will allow me that much space and time haha. Is there anyone who takes commissions doing this? Besides...it would be very hard finding flocking material in the Netherlands.
