How do you store/display your pony stickers?
« on: June 25, 2016, 03:24:10 PM »
So... I've had a small collection of the official stickers that came with ponies for a while. Maybe a handful? But recently I came into possession of 10 new ones stuck to a playset shell. If they are not on their backing, what's your recommended way to keep these organized and easy to see what you have? I'm kind of stuck (pun intended). :P I'd love all of your input!

I keep all my stickers in plastic sheets inside a binder.  They make sheets for coin collections, and they fit a sticker and its backing perfectly.
This is what I use:

Here's an old picture of some of my trade stickers (I haven't gotten around to photographing my collection ones):

I use Post It page tabs stuck to the backing to indicate the condition(pink - mint on original backing paper, green - mint/near mint but not on original backing paper, yellow/orange - sticker with significant problems, not on original backing.  Ones without a tag haven't been processed yet.).

The sheets work for flat stickers too:

If your stickers are stuck to playset, I'd try to get them off very, very carefully.  It's possible to get stickers off of playsets if you go slowly and carefully. If you rush, you'll end up with "front only" stickers, cracked stickers, torn in half stickers, and all sorts of other problems.

You can find a free source of "sticker paper" at the post office - their stick-on labels have the exact right kind of paper on the back, one label is good for several stickers, and you can pick up as many as you want for free.  If you can save the stickiness of the sticker, you can put them right on the sticker paper.  If they're not sticky anymore after you take them off, or you could only get the front part of the sticker off, I put a small rolled up piece of tape on the back, and stick that to the sticker paper.  Once they're in the sheets, they'll look just fine.  That's why I started the Post It color organization - putting them on replacement sticker paper made them all look like new stickers, and I got tired of having to pull out the stickers to see their true condition.  As an added bonus, the Post It tabs make it so much easier to get the flat stickers in and out of the plastic sleeves.

Those look perfect, thank you! :D I was thinking of maybe a cute retro "my sticker book," but this would be more practical.

I have something similar for mine that I got from another collector on here. Before that I stored them each in their own little plastic bag but that wasn't very easy to sort through. I love the idea of the post it organisation, very cool :)

Yeah, the Post Its are great!  They're like little handles you can use to get the stickers in and out quickly.   For my collection stickers, I only put tags on the ones that need upgrading so I can just glance at the page and know.  I had several sticker I either passed an upgrade by, or bought a second mint one when I already had one because all stickers look to be in great shape in the binder.

They're really good for the trade stickers.  If I'm working out a trade, I can just send photos of the sheets of trade stickers and a quick guide to what the colors mean.  The other person can tell at a glance if they're interested in a sticker without making me pull out the sticker, look at the sticker,  and write up a detailed description for each and every one(I have over 300 trade stickers - that's a lot of descriptions to write only for someone to tell me "I just want mint ones").  If they're only looking for mint stickers, or stickers on their original backing, they'll know right away without having to ask about each sticker individually.  If they're ok with less than mint condition stickers, then I give them the full description once they ask about the individual stickers.

And if I ever start selling, I can just write the prices on the top of the tag, so you can see the prices without having to pull the stickers out or turning the page.  It's still attached to the sticker(instead of attaching it to the sleeve which is a problem once the sticker is sold/traded).

I intend to tweak the Post Its soon.  I ran out of orange at one point and had to start using yellow.  I'd like it to be one or the other, maybe even having yellow as "moderate problems" and orange being "major problems".   I also want to have a "front only" category(probably blue or purple).
