How should i wash these?
« on: June 06, 2016, 08:23:56 AM »
Hi

So i just bought these off ebay and they are filthy! Would it be safe to throw them in the washing machine or will i need to be super careful on the off chance the image comes off?

Has anyone got them and washed them in the past?

The how water bottle cover seems like the image is dyed on whilst the handkerchief i'm not sure if they used a different colour thread.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I would love to display them.

You might try a handwash if you are worried

The water bottle cover should be fine in the wash.  I'd just wash it on a gentle cycle and low heat dryer.  The handkerchief I'd hand-wash in the sink and line dry, just in case.  ;)

Those are very cute :)

If I found these I would do a gentle handwash or cold temperature wash in a bra bag.Weren't those handkerchiefs made to make it "wet"? :)

I've had both - the bottle thing I have from childhood and I did have the full hankie set of MGR hankies but no longer do. The latter I'm fairly sure probably went through the wash when I got them with no issues. I am unsure if I ever washed the hot water bottle case, but I used it a lot as a kid so would be surprised if Mum didn't.

Maybe a gentle wash..? Or handwash, as people suggest?

I would soak them in oxiclean and detergent so handwash.  That is how I clean all the dirty doll clothes.

You can buy protector bags (sorta like a pillow case with a zip) pop them inside that and then put on a delicate low spin wash & it should be ok! ;)

Oh congrats on getting these :) I was about to bid for this lot but forgot the auction lol.

Id put them into an old pillow case so the washing machine wont rub anything off. Should be safe to wash, would have done it that way :)
